Frenchie/Stamp Camp Challenge with a Twist!

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Today is my weekly challenge with Frenchie. The challenge for today was to use the colors: Pool Party, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla or Whisper White. The stamp set to use was the FREE Outlined Occasions Stamp Set. After I sent France the challenge she called me and said I want to add a twist to the challenge, Oh and what is that? I want to do a technique challenge. Hmmm, now to put on my thinking cap and try to come up with a technique to add to the ink colors and the stamp set. She said I already have the challenge done and the technique, Wow nothing like putting the pressure on me. LOL So here is what I came up with:

Oh yeah, I did 3 cards instead of just one, I had so much left overs I had to use them up. Yes, I had to use the Double “D” Bow Maker on my cards as well. If you haven’t heard about the Double “D” Bow Maker or if you want to purchase one of your own please click on the picture in the right hand side bar for all the details. I also used the new scented embossing powders on the ice cream and cherry part of the stamped image. I just colored the stamp with the markers, stamped it onto Whisper White card stock and then took the Versamarker and colored over the areas I wanted to emboss with the scented embossing powders. I put the powder on and heat set it.

On this card I did the Double Bow using the Double “D” Bow Maker. If you haven’t guessed it yet my technique is the Shaving Cream technique. Here is the last little card:

This little card I just used the shaving cream paper to do the ice cream on the top of the cone. I stamped the ice cream image onto the shaving cream card stock using versamark and heat embossed it with the Cherry Scented embossing powder; then cut it out and popped it up on the cone.
Okay now on to the shaving cream technique tutorial:
Step 1
Spray shaving cream in a disposable container. (I use a foam plate)

Step 2
Using 2 or 3 different color re-inkers drop re-inker randomly onto the shaving cream. (I used Pool Party and Cherry Cobbler)

Step 3
Swirl the re-inkers thru the shaving cream using a plastic knife or I use a wooden skewer.

Step 4
Take a piece of Whisper White card stock and smooch it into the shaving cream.

Step 5
Take your card stock out of the shaving cream and place it onto a paper towel. Then take a squeege and scrape off the shaving cream to reveal your super cool tie dyed design.

Step 6
Decorate your card with your cool paper. I did 3 different pieces of Whisper White card stock, swirling more before adding the card stock, adding a little more Pool Party Re-inker for the last piece.

I thought this technique was a cool technique to use with the Ice Cream Cone from the Mouthwatering Stamp Set. It reminds me of ice cream with all the swirling and colors it looks good enough to eat.

I hope you enjoyed our challenge for today, now head on over to France’s blog and she what cool technique she did and what she did with the ink colors and stamp set too.

Thanks for stopping by,
Glenda
