Glenda’s Blog has Been Hi-Jacked…Again!!!!

We interrupt this regularly scheduled blog with an important announcement.
Me and the boys have given Glenda the day off and we will be navigating this blog today.

Before we get to the video part of this birthday card, I want to wish a Happy Birthday to my wife and wonderful mother of my children. Spending 35 yrs together, you’ve made me a better person.

This week Glenda and I  spend the entire week together at two of our favorite places – Mackinac Island and Traverse City. We love coming here to remember the past, but also dream about our future…when the kids are gone and how that new chapter of our life should begin. If you’ve followed our book so far, it’s been a pretty good read. Adventurous, spontaneous and a few interesting twists. I wouldn’t have wanted to write this story with any other person.

So far it’s been a fun week-just us. A good long walk on a beautiful sunny September day, good food at an outdoor pub overlooking the Straits, and the charm of an old Victorian hotel. But honestly, the best part is just sitting in this Adirondack chair and sipping coffee with you next to me – I have all I need right here. I love you and look forward to many more adventures together. Cheers to you on your Birthday; for many more wonderful years together, adventures to be had, islands to explore, coffee to sip and chapters to write!

I thought I would just remind you of the more interesting chapters of our life and finer moments we’ve shared together like:
• How to get into DisneyLand after it’s closed
• The wrong way to shake a bottle of ketchup in a restaurant
• The time I taught the boys how to hook up the boat, but the better lesson- how to hook it back up quickly in the middle of a busy intersection
• How not to empty the sewer in an RV when you’re standing right in front of the hose
• How to sail a boat and pull start a snowmobile
• Even though you warned me, a person shouldn’t try to drill holes in a plastic jug with a hand drill

I guess what amazes me the most, after 35 yrs with me – that you still listen to me despite:
• The many times I told you it wasn’t far, we’ll walk.
• It’s not going to be cold, forget the coats.
• Turn here, it’s a shortcut- just trust me.
• Let’s cross country ski- it’s easy
• Don’t worry, the ice on the pond is plenty thick.
• We don’t need reservations; there will be plenty of places to stay.
• Don’t send that black pearl ring to the jeweler- I know how to clean it!
• When they say it’s the last boat to the cruise ship, you better be on it

A few things that I really regret though and am truly sorry for (and hope you forgive me):
• The kale smoothie I made you for your last birthday
• The time I didn’t notice you stranded on the side of the road in the minus 20 degree blizzard – but you saw me.
• Our first house with the dungy basement.  When I accidently locked the basement door on you (from the other side) and hurried off to run errands for most of the day.
•  My firework display gone bad and I torpedoed the neighbor’s new boat with a red, white and blue nuclear sunrise   May I say though, that your ability to predict the future is astounding!  You told me it was going to happen even before I lit the fuse!
•  When I cleared both you and the baby crib with a single leap to get out of the house first when the house caught on fire.

But, as I said earlier, you’ve made me a better man. I’m thankful for some of the lessons you’ve taught me, including your moto for living…. “just do it”, especially when I Over analyze and think I always need a plan. Just this week, you taught me how to get free muffins and cookies while on Mackinac Island! And one more thing, thank you for saving my butt on the Carribean cruise. I would still be on the Cayman island if I didn’t see you screaming at me 6 blocks away to hurry and get my A$#! on the last boat when I thought that I had all of the time in the world. I know you love me too, because that was your opportunity for a clean getaway.

Now, may I present to you…the Neil and Dean show and their very special tribute to their mother! The boys demonstrate a new technique for making birthday cards that I’m sure you will find very unconventional. Help the boys surprise their mother!  You know the score…comment, share, like, and make their video go viral!

Happy Birthday and Love Always !

-Bill

P.S Glenda, If I accidentally deleted everything else on your blog….I’m sorry :/

Being the mother of two grown sons……I can totally relate!!! I remember all too well their shenanigans but also their sweet moments.

Loved watching your hubby film and narrate while your Sons made a card for you.

I enjoy it when your hubby and boys hijack the camera!! Tell them to do it more often. 😉

That was the best video tutorial I’ve ever watched and believe me when I tell you I’ve watched a lot! Lol! I was very impressed to see you ‘check mark’ the fast fuse, not waste card stock by placing the framelits in the corner of the piece of card each time, using the markers on the stamp. You guys must help your Mum a lot in the craft room. She must be so proud of you both. What a wonderful gift you have given her with this video. You guys (Dad included) ROCK! Happy Birthday Glenda!

I love this video. I watched the one they made last year too. Those boys obviously have been paying attention to what you do. Your husbands note to you is so precious and a real keeper. You have a wonderful family.

Thanks Shari, Yes, Dean did fabulous with the Fast Fuse he must have practiced. He did do a demonstration during one of my Live Events where he demonstrated how to use the fast fuse he must have picked up some tips along the way. Neil is my #1 Big Shot operator so I’ve instructed him more than once about not wasting the cardstock; sometimes they do listen. 🙂 Thanks for checking out their video and for the Birthday Wishes 🙂

  14. glenda says:

    Thanks Marlene,
Yes, it most definitely made my day as well. Those boys are always up to something. Thanks for the Birthday Wishes. 🙂

Thanks Char, I actually have 3 boys and a daughter. Our daughter is married and lives in North Carolina and our oldest son works for us as a computer programmer. These are our younger two boys and the ones who are always up to something. It’s great that they get along so well and have fun together. Thanks so much for the birthday wishes and checking out their video. I’m sure you’ll be seeing more in the future. 🙂

  16. glenda says:

Thanks Mary, Yes, these 2 are always doing something together even though they are 3 years apart they have always been close. You are correct though we always need a little time away. Thanks for the Birthday wishes!

Thanks Barb, We too went on our Honeymoon to Mackinac Island just over 35 years ago. That’s one thing I like about the island things don’t change much. We have had lots of great memories and times on the island; love it.

  18. glenda says:

Thanks Kay, We are having a great week! I couldn’t ask for better company or better weather; everything is wonderful!

  19. glenda says:

Thanks Gerri, Oh let me tell you he’s left off a few of those memories; I can think of a few more but don’t want to embarrass him. 🙂

Thanks Carla, I’ll make sure to let the boys know they had viewers from Netherlands; they’ll think they are famous. Thanks so much for the comments and Birthday Wishes.
