I’m Back

Yes, I’m back.? I’m back from Florida and I’m back to blogging. :)?

Many of you don’t know but my daughter has been sick for a while now, we have been to a couple different doctors and had several blood test run trying to figure out what is going on.? She has been losing weight, hair falling out and stomach aches.? We thought she was hypoglycemic and lactose intolerant.? Well?while we were gone in Florida she got worse and worse.? She lost 5 pounds in less than a week?s time and just terrible stomach aches and terrible diarrhea.? She went back to the doctor when we returned home and they have taken more blood test but we now know she has Celiac Disease.? She needs to be totally Gluten free which means many trips to the health food store, a new toaster just for her and a whole new way of cooking and eating for her.? She is so happy to finally know what is wrong with her and has already started to feel better.? The symptoms are still present but she is feeling much better.??

Anyways no post for today, but check back tomorrow for sure! :)? Now, we are off to the health food store to load up on Gluten Free products.? ?If you have Celiac Disease or know of someone who does and you have Wonderful Gluten Free recipes we would love to give them a try. 🙂

Thanks for your continued support and checking of my Blog.? I promise to do better. 🙂

I have a friend diagnosed with Celiac’s a few years ago, in her thirties. It is AMAZING how much better she feels now that she knows what she can eat. And most grocery stores now carry a variety of gluten free products. She initially was shopping at a natural foods grocer to get gluten free mixes and rice flour. Good luck with your daughter’s health and the change of diet – it will become a habit for all of you very soon.

I have Celiac disease and have been eating gluten free for 1.5 years. It is a very common, but grossly under-diagnosed auto-immune disease. (Average 11 years for a correct diagnosis.) Eating gluten-free is a life-style adjustment and your daughter may take up to a year or two to complete the healing process. I suggest – have your daughter find a local support group. Visit http://www.gluten.net to find one and for other helpful information. Email me if you want to “chat.” I can recommend a few cookbooks and some basics since I teach Celiac 101 at my local support group in Dallas.
