Today is the sketch challenge at Try Stampin’ on Tuesday.

Here is the sketch:

Another challenge this week was to incorporate a Wood element or Woodgrain on the card.

Here is my take on the sketch:

When I saw the challenge about the wood element or woodgrain on the card I knew right away I wanted to use one of my new Stamps “Hardwood” this is in the upcoming Occasions catalog.

I also knew right away I wanted to use the Lovely As A Tree stamp set with the Hardwood background stamp.

Plus in this new catalog we have New Essentials Wooden Elements; PERFECT! These are fun little shapes of wood; which you can stamp on, die with re-inkers, sponge on color; lots of possibilities.

Wood Happy Birthday

On my little wood piece I stamped the “Happy Birthday” from Teeny Tiny Wishes and sponged the ends all with Soft Suede ink.

I also sponged around my tree piece giving it a rustic masculine feel.

The little soft suede candy dots on the woodgrain look like nails.

For the center strip I took a piece of the Burlap Ribbon and cut off the sewn edges on both sides and frayed it a little. I then added the Soft Suede taffeta ribbon down the center.

This fun new woodgrain stamp “Hardwood” and the wooden elements will be available to order on January 3rd, 2014.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Christmas Eve!
