Techniques Class – Faux Stitching

Thursday, November 1, 2012

Today’s technique in the Online Techniques class is the Faux Stitching Technique.

Here is the card that is done in the video:

With the new Festive Paper-Piercing Pack this technique is a breeze. Forget about hauling out the sewing machine! You can get a super cute look just by using the New Larger Paper-Piercing Mat #126199 $4.95, Paper-Piercing Tool #126189 $3.95 and the new Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack #126187 $7.95 or Festive Paper Piercing Pack #127857 $7.95 to create a faux stitched look.

You will also need a White Gel Pen #105021 $3.95 or The Silver Stampin’ Dazzle Marker #128978 $3.50 or the Gold Stampin’ Dazzle Marker #128979 $3.50.

Here is the video showing you how to do this technique:

Would you like to see another sample using this technique?

Well I couldn’t stop with just one; I had to try it with the new Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies too #129021 $26.95. This also coordinates with the Festive Paper-Piercing pack #127857 $7.95.

Here is that sample:

On both of the samples in today’s post I used the new Silver Stampin’ Dazzle Marker #128978 $3.50. I have done this technique many times before using the white gel pen and the different color Stampin’ Write Markers. It just depends on what color you want your “Thread” to be. 🙂

Here is a close up of this ornament with stitching:

I did emboss the ornament on this card using the VersaMark ink and the Silver embossing powder. I then cut it out using the Holiday Ornaments Framelit.

The colors I used on both card samples is Midnight Muse and Whisper White; with a touch of Brushed Silver card stock.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Wow! These cards are eye poppers. For this Christmas season this is my favorite stamp set, die cuts and you created it in blue, my favorite color!
