Team Retreat Was Packed With Techniques and Ideas!

techniques and ideas

This past weekends team retreat was packed with stamping techniques and ideas. Hands down the best stamping retreat I’ve been to in a while. My team enjoyed it so much I’m thinking we will do this type of event at least once a year if not twice a year. Maybe with each new catalog. So fun!

Today’s cards were from the Watercoloring presentation done by Jeanne Knobbe.  If you know me watercoloring has never been one of my go to techniques, but Jeanne gave us some easy watercoloring ideas.

We started with the Celebrate Sunflower image and moved on to the Birds of a Feather stamp set.

To do this card; we first stamped the Sunflower image using Bumblebee ink.  We then started to add color with the blending brush and ink refills.  I guess what’s hard for me with watercoloring is going outside of the lines with the ink refill.  To me it looks like a mess; hahaha.  I do like the depth that it gave the sunflower.  I think with practice I might enjoy it more.  This technique was more of a wash technique.

The next Watercoloring project was to use the ink refills on clear blocks to watercolor the birds and branch.  I liked my sample more after it had dried; the colors seemed to blend in and are not so vibrant.   Again, easy watercoloring ideas that I need more practice with.

I decided to use my watercolor print for a Z fold card.  I paired my black cardstock with the nice Blushing Bride Subtles designer series paper.

  1. Carrie says:

I think the sunflower and birds are beautiful! I’m assuming you posted a different bird stamp set? And what did you use to color with four birds, a blender pen with the ink or the brush you put water in reservoir?

  2. Glenda says:

Hi Carrie, You are correct I did post the wrong bird stamp set; it is corrected now; thanks for pointing that out. To do the watercoloring we used the Blender pen and the ink refills on a clear block.
