The Boys make a Birthday Card

Glenda is still in N. Carolina, so Dean and Dad are helping out with the card again today. Thanks for all of your comments yesterday on our video, you sort of motivated us to do another project.  Someone even mentioned that we should clean mom’s card room, but that would be sort of like letting mom clean our barn and that would not be a good thing.   I tried to get the boys to do another video, they weren’t feeling it.  But, later in the evening, Dean showed me a Birthday Card that he made- the boy came through!

Dean explained it to me, I’ll explain it to you…..

First you take the punch and punch out the paper hearts.  Then stamp the Happy Birthday on paper, cut it out with a punch and glue it on with these two pearly things.  Punch the Stars with the star punch.  Dean said he invented this next technique: Put some ink on the stars to make them sticky, then sprinkle some of that magic silvery pixie dust on the stars. I think he called the stuff  “embalming powder” or maybe it was “embossing powder.”   We found it in a container with mom’s stuff- I hope it was safe to use- it sort of looked like metal shavings from the garage workbench.  Dean heats the pixie dust up with this blow torch thing (looks sort of like a hair dryer for dolls) and they stick and get a texture.  Then he took these little foamy sticky things, (he thought mom called them dimensionals), and attach the stars to the card.     I thought the sparkly stars were pretty cool- he said he invented the technique, so we’ll call it “Dean’s pixie dust technique! ” I tried to get the light to hit them just right when I took the photo- they actually sparkle and change color!

That’s it- simple, but it saves us five bucks for a birthday card and it’s better than you can buy in the store.  Dean says, take the money we save, stuff a $5 bill inside and you’re good to go.  He has a birthday party tomorrow after school and this will be his ticket inside.

Thanks for coming to Glenda’s blog, your support is appreciated.  Keep the comments coming, we might just surprise you with something “different.”  Feel free to buy something from her online store….mom didn’t leave us with much cash and the refrigerator is running low  :/
