Tuesday Pictorial Tutorial

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

I told you yesterday I was planning a Tuesday Tutorial, I’m going to try to post a pictorial tutorial every Tuesday.? So make sure to check them out.? Also, I would like to hear from you regarding the tutorials, they are more work to post than the everyday card so if I don’t get much feedback I’m going to assume they aren’t that great and I’ll stop.? I would like to get on the Video band wagon but as of yet I haven’t had time to figure that all out.? I’m hoping during Christmas break when my husband won’t be traveling for work so much he can look into it, so maybe come January I’ll have Video Tutorial Tuesdays! 🙂

So on to today’s Pictorial Tutorial the Christmas Ornament Gift Card Holder:

Step 1:
Take a 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of card stock and cut it in half. (5 1/2 X 8 1/2).? Now fold this in half like a card.? Place your “card” onto the Scallop Circle Die as shown and run it thru your Big Shot.

When you place your “card” onto the Scallop Circle die you want to have at least 4 little scallops showing that will not be cut thru your card stock.? In other words I want the fold to be just under the top 4 scallops.
When you have cut thru your Scallop Circle you should still have a fold at the top so you can open it up.? It will look like this:

Step 2:
Cut another Scallop Circle this time just a single scallop.? You will then take the Scallop Circle and cut it in 1/2.

Step 3:
On one of the halves line the sides and bottom with red line tape.? Attach this to the inside bottom of your Scallop Circle Card.? This will create a pocket to put your gift card in.

Step 4:
Take a coordinating printed designer paper and cut a circle using the Circle Scissors.? You want your Circle Scissors to be set at 3 6/8″.? You will also need to cut a solid coordinating piece of card stock with your?Circle Scissor?set to cut at 3 7/8″ circle.? When you have all the circles assembled it should look like this.

On the sample I posted yesterday I cut the Designer paper in 1/2 and flipped one half over and ran a piece of ribbon around the center piece and tied it in a knot.? Then I added my decoration.? On this tutorial I’m not cutting the designer paper and flipping it and adding the ribbon, I’m going to keep it simple.

Step 5:
Punch a hanger for the top of your ornament using the solid coordinating card stock color and the Round Tab punch.? Next take 7″ of gold or silver cord and tie it into a knot and using adhesive stick the Round tab together securing the knot in the center.

Step 6:
Now attach your tab to the top of your ornament (I use a little adhesive to hold it in place while I punch out two holes using my Crop-A-Dile).? Attach 2 gold or silver eyelets in the holes and secure closed with the Crop-A-Dile.

Make sure you have your ornament Open when you punch your holes with the Crop-A-Dile and attach the Eyelets.

Step 7:
Now decorate the top of your Ornament as desired.

On this sample I used Retired Card stock and Designer Paper, but the Stamp Set is from the Level 2 Hostess Stamp Set called Christmas Punch.

I hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to drop me an email.

Have a Great Day!
Glenda
