Today is the Frenchie/Stamp Camp Challenge. Each week my friend France and I host a challenge. This week it was my turn to pick the challenge and I chose the Bordering on Romance stamp set and the colors to use were: Black, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Certainly Celery. I also said we had to use a technique. Well when I gave France the challenge I already had in my head what I wanted to do and the technique I was going to do was Black Magic. Well France beat me to the punch. She called me on Tuesday and already had her card done and she told me the technique she used was Black Magic. I began to laugh and said that’s what I was going to do; she said that’s okay great minds think alike. Well I pulled out my thinking cap and my technique booklet and decided I would do Faux Mother of Pearl.
Here is my first take on the Faux Mother of Pearl with the challenge:
On this sample I sponged the Faux Mother of Pearl piece with the Pretty in Pink ink. Here is a close up of the flowers:
Here is my second attempt:
On this sample I sponged the Faux Mother of Pearl piece with the Certainly Celery ink. I also made the base of my card Certainly Celery instead of the Regal Rose card stock.
Here is my 3rd sample:
On this sample I sponged the Faux Mother of Pearl piece with the Pretty in Pink ink. I changed up the card stock colors and changed up the location of the sentiment and the flowers. I also did the double loop bow using the Double “D” Bow Maker. I did not punch a hole thru the front or tie the ribbon around the card like I did on the first 2 samples.
If you struggle making bows for your cards why not give the Double “D” Bow Maker a try. Click on the picture in the right hand side bar for all the details.
Now I have a video tutorial on how to do the Faux Mother of Pearl technique. This was done last year and I changed up the stamp set and card stock colors but the layout and the technique are the exact same as the video. I also show you how to do the tulip impression design on a smaller piece of card stock. Enjoy!
I hope you enjoyed the video and the technique, now head on over to France’s blog and check out her Black Magic technique.
Happy Stamping!
Glenda
