Today’s Happy New Year card combines a few different elements. I’ve combined Retired Products, New Products, and Last Chance products to create today’s card. It sort of reminds me of “Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, A Sixpence in your Shoe.” This is the full Old English rhyme, each “something” representing well wishes offered by friends and family on a couple’s wedding day. I guess this is my version For New Years and my well wishes for you and yours.
With New Years Eve practically here (my grinch quote) I thought a quick and easy handmade Happy New Year card would be fitting. (Yes, I did make this card all by myself, my hand is sort of working, slow going but getting there.) I had the idea of this card in my head, now I just needed to execute it. I knew I wanted a firework explosion on the front, which made me think of the Light the Sky Dies, which are still on the Last Chance List (See List HERE). Plus, the best part these dies are on SALE! If you love New Years Eve or celebrating 4th of July these dies are a must have. You can create some very festive handmade cards with these dies perfect for those occasions.
Moving along to the sparkle and bling. I wanted my fireworks to sparkle and what better way than to add the Silver Glimmer paper behind my explosion and a bit around the edges and under the sentiment piece. This adhesive-backed glimmer paper is retired and came in a package with a piece of Gold glimmer paper as well. So, this would be my something old as well as the silver twine. The Rhinestones are still available to order and these silver rhinestones pair well with the glimmer paper and silver bow. If you do not have this silver glimmer paper you can substitute with any silver foil paper you may have or it is available to order.
Now let’s check out the something new. For the something new on this card I brought in the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. This is a new ephemera pack you will find in the new Mini Catalog available to order from on January 7, 2025. This ephemera pack is packed with sentiments for any occasion you might have coming up, the best part, each sentiment is in black and white which is sure to coordinate very well with your cards or projects. There you have the something new. The only thing I’m missing on this card is the something blue and borrowed.
