Marbled Elegance and Split Negative Stamping Techniques You Gotta Try

handmade stamping techniques

Today I have an oldie but a goodie technique to share with you. These cards showcase split negative stamping techniques. The Marbled Elegance paper pack with the Hearts of Elegance Bundle is perfect for this technique.  What is also nice about this particular technique is that you will get 2 cards from just one piece of the designer series paper.  You will use each 1/2 of the cut-out section as well as 1/2 of the die cut piece, you will use the opposite half on each of your 2 cards.

Why do I say this is an oldie technique?  Back when I first started stamping, I did this technique, but with embossing powders.  I would have half the card embossed in black and 1/2 the card would be embossed in white.  This is a very stunning technique as I love black and white together for a beautiful formal card such as an anniversary or wedding.

So, for today’s card instead of embossing I just used the designer series paper and a piece of coordinating card stock to achieve the same results.

You can create or give each of the cards you create using these stamping techniques a different look and feel just by changing how you apply your sentiment on your card front.

Also, you could create both cards exactly the same but change the sentiment to Valentine’s Day, Wedding Day or Anniversary;  all would work very well with this paper and the heart die cut.

This card shows the opposite side of the heart and the background paper from the first card.  Handmade stamping techniques like this one is the perfect way to expand your designer series paper because you will get two cards from just one 4″ X 5 1/4″ piece of designer series paper.  I know some of you like to create 2 cards when you are making your cards, so you have one to keep as a sample and one to send.  I will do this with fun fold cards as well as technique cards, so when I’m in a runt and my stamping mojo is in a slump, I’ll pull out my shoebox of samples and something generally will always spark my creativity again.  Making those oldie but goodie techniques new again.
