Quick Masking Methods In Cardmaking Creates Some Amazing Results

quick masking methods in cardmaking

Here is another example of quick masking methods in cardmaking, which can create some amazing results.  With just a few items you can create some beautiful scenic cards in a flash.  This card was created similar to the card I posted on Monday with the Magnolia Mood stamp set.  If you missed Monday’s post you can view it HERE.   The only difference in creating today’s card is I used the Mask from the Frosted Forest Bundle to create the tree image on this card after I used the masking paper for my masking strips technique.

Let’s check out the basic stamp masking techniques used in today’s cards.

To create today’s card, I first cut my masking strips using the masking paper.  I cut my strips 3/4″ wide and adhered them to the outside edges all the way around my Very Vanilla cardstock which is 3 3/4″ X 5″.  I then added the Balmy Blue ink using my blending brush and added the ink until I had my desired color.  You can make this as light or as dark as you like.  I then removed my masking paper strips to reveal the Balmy Blue rectangle on my Very Vanilla cardstock.

This is considered quick masking methods in cardmaking that anyone can accomplish with either the masking paper or even painters’ tape.  NOTE:  The masking paper and painters’ tape will be too sticky if you apply it directly to your cardstock, I always stick it to my arm or leg a couple times first to tone down the sticky adhesive, this way it will not rip my cardstock when I remove it.

The next basic stamp masking techniques used on this card was the masking of my tree image.  Here is your step-by-step stamp masking tutorial for this portion of the card.  I started by placing my Frosted Tree Mask labeled #1 onto my Very Vanilla cardstock as shown and using my blending brush and the Early Espresso ink I lightly blended my ink over the mask until I had the desired color.  I removed that mask and added Mask #2 and using the Mossy Meadow ink I lightly blended the ink over the mask.  Finally, I added Mask #3 and using the same Mossy Meadow ink and blended the ink over my mask darker.   You could then stamp the tree with the coordinating stamp from the Frosted Forest Bundle, but I chose not to for this card.  However, I did stamp it on the inside along with the masking technique.

The sentiment and die cut are both from the Unbounded Love Bundle.  I also used the Adhesive-Backed Textured Dots for my accent pieces.

Here is today’s card and Monday’s card, both have the masking strips technique on them, but each was created just a bit differently.  Monday’s Magnolia card was created with a stamped masking technique and today’s tree was done using the Frosted Forest Mask.  Each a bit different but both very pretty cards using basic stamp masking techniques.
