Today’s blog post features my guest stamper, Bill and what to do with paper scraps from the kits collection. When Bill created the Christmas cards from the Christmas Wishes kit (if you missed it check it out HERE) he had leftover sentiment pieces and asked what can we do with these? He had the sentiment pieces all stamped and had dimensionals on the backside so he didn’t want to throw them away. So, I went into my craft room and pulled out the Season of Elegance 12 x 12 Specialty Designer Series Paper. This gorgeous specialty paper has the gold foiling running through it and the ink from the Christmas wishes kit was Pretty Peacock, so that went perfect with this print from the pack.
I wanted to keep the card simple since this was Bill’s first time stamping, so I pulled out the gold foil paper and a circle punch, and I had him punch the circles for the front.
It wasn’t long, and Bill learned how to mass produce by lining up his cards as he was adding the pieces. He really made quick progress of putting these cards together. Even though they’re very quick and easy I think they turned out beautiful. It just goes to show you how you can take designer series paper, and a sentiment, with a few other products and create a quick beautiful card in no time.
Just the circle and the sentiment piece was just a little bit too plain, so we had to add some bling to the card fronts. I grabbed the gold twisted thread and created some double bows to add to the corner of the sentiment piece. This was Bill’s first time using glue dots and he kind of liked them. I then wanted to add some bling and found some retired gold sequence, these were perfect for the card fronts.
Here’s the finished card, so what do you think? I was pretty pleased with how they turned out and this all came about from just that one left-over sentiment strip from the Christmas Wishes kits collection.
What do you do with your leftover paper scraps? To be honest, I generally put my leftover paper pieces in a shoebox for later use. It is probably better to use them while you have them out and ready to go instead of storing them like I do. Now we had some more leftover sentiment pieces from this kit, which I will show you on another day what Bill did with those. I think he likes Stamping because yesterday he asked what I had for him to do. No, I didn’t have him stamp. I had lots of presents that needed to be wrapped, so yesterday was Christmas present wrapping day. But, I may be able to talk him into doing a stamping video this week. He’s not ready to go live, but he’s willing to do a video. So stay tuned.
