Let’s Create Some Fun Fold Slimline Cards For Christmas

Today’s slimline cards are fun fold cards with a peekaboo window. What will you put inside your window?

This fun fold card is simple to create, and you can easily do it for any occasion you have coming up; just change out the stamp sets and designer papers.  I went with the Santa’s Express Designer Series Paper once again with the coordinating Santa’s Delivery Bundle.   This Ho Ho Ho paper was perfect or this card with Santa on his train in the middle.  The center is die cut out with the Large Stylish Shapes circle die.  This is where the Peekaboo part is.

This first section has another piece of the designer series paper and that is where the Santa with the circle die cut is adhered.  You see him through the window on the front when it is closed.  I wanted to use a different color circle for my Santa, so I went with Shaded Spruce instead of the White circle I had when I die cut my card front, I’ll use that another day.  So, on the front we have Santa saying Ho Ho Ho and on this inside section we have all his packages, boxes, and bags to deliver.  But we still haven’t gotten to the very inside of these slimline cards; there is one more opening.

Here we have our slimline card all the way opened. You can see the center section has a strip of designer paper that matches our envelope and the sentiment Merry Christmas!

This slimline card fits inside a regular Business Envelope.  I decorated the front of the envelope with a bit of the left-over designer series paper.

Here is how you create these Christmas fun fold cards:
– (2) Basic White cardstock 7″ X 8 3/4″ scored at 3 1/2″
– (2) Designer Series Papers 3 1/4″ X 8 1/2″
– Inside Basic White 3″ X 8 1/4″

Once you have your Basic White cardstock pieces cut and scored on one of them you will add the Designer Series Paper to the front and then die cut out your peekaboo window.  If your die cut machine will not allow a piece of cardstock that wide to go through it, you will close the card with the die inside and run it through your machine; yes the top will get funny from the die; but you will cover up this section with the other piece of Basic White cardstock.  Once you have your peekaboo window cut you can now attach the top 1/2 to the inside bottom 1/2 of the second piece of Basic White cardstock.  (So, the center section is actually 2 pieces of Basic White cardstock adhered together to create your trifold).  Then just decorate as desired.  You can use the die cut piece you cut from the front to adhere to the center section with a stamped image or die cut like I did or cut a new die piece using the same die you used to cut the card front opening.  You can certainly move your “window” to either side of the card or center it like it did.

Another Question: I have noticed that you and other demonstrators use DSP on the envelope flaps. Do they remain on the envelope throughout delivery?
    Do mail carriers mind them?

  2. Glenda says:

Hi Paula, I haven’t ever heard of a problem with adding the designer series paper to the envelopes; just make sure to use good adhesive.
