Card sketches are my favorite; the layout is there all you need to think about is the items you wish to use to create your card.
It’s Tuesday and time for Case-ing Tuesday Sketch #355. This is from a Facebook group that I’m a part of. Every Tuesday a new Sketch from one of the current Stampin’ Up! catalogs is displayed and we try our hand at case-ing it. Today I brought in the Old with the New. I brought in the New In Color Sweet Sorbet cardstock and ink and the New Tea Boutique 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. The old is the Biggest Wishes Stamp Set, Brick & Mortar embossing Folder and the Crinkled White Ribbon.
Here is the case-ing card from the new Annual catalog.
This is a beautiful card that I may just need to case exactly how it is in the catalog. Nothing wrong in case-ing card sketches layouts exactly as they are.
To give you an idea of how the pieces are cut and sized the black and white sketch is provided as well:
Since I already have been playing with the new In Colors I decided I wanted to go my Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper. That was my starting point. After I choose this beautiful floral print I went with the Sweet Sorbet and picked up the Crumb Cake from the paper as well. I needed to do something to the Crumb Cake piece so decided to emboss it with the Brick & Mortar Folder.
Next I felt the edge of the designer paper needed a bit of something so I pulled out my scalloped edge die from the Contours Dies. Now I had to do something about the edge of the paper with the scalloped edge so went with the White Crinkled Ribbon and a nice double bow.
Finally the sentiment; the Biggest Wishes stamp set fit my needs so I pulled it and went with that. So even though my card doesn’t fit the same look as the catalog sample it all starts from simple card sketches. Maybe that is the reason I like card sketch layouts so much; I can take a simple sketch and make it my own. I have my platform to get started and then my card just takes off from there.
Yes, I have been featuring those new In Colors a lot lately and maybe it is because they are so pretty or maybe it is because you can get them for FREE in the Starter Kit or maybe I like combining the old with the new; whatever the reason I hope you are enjoying all the new In Color products as much as I am.
Details on getting some of those new In Colors for Free you will find all the details down below in this blog post.
