If you are wondering what to do with paper strips, then you just might want to take a look at today’s cards. These faux quilted star cards are made from paper strips and can be created with any designer series paper you have on hand. I have the video tutorial in this article, so you will soon see just how easy these cards are to create.
With the holiday last week I got a little bit behind, so I wasn’t able to pull together a one sheet wonder last night, but I did show this fun technique of using paper strips to create these faux quilted star cards. In the video last night I created the Pool Party and Early Espresso card and at the end I showed the Petal Pink and Smoky Slate card. Both cards were created with the Country Woods Designer Series Paper, which is my featured paper for this month’s Stamp Camp at Home Card Club Kit. If you missed the post regarding this month’s kit you can find it HERE.
I wanted to show how you can use the same paper pack and get a softer card and a more vibrant card just by the colors you pull from the papers. To me the Petal Pink and Smoky Slate work well together and provide a softer look and feel to the card and the Pool Party and Early Espresso give a deeper vibrant look and feel. Maybe it is just me, that thinks that. Both are very pretty and I’m sure the recipient will love to receive them. These are the perfect cards for the quilter in your life.
If you love quilted looking cards and are wondering what to do with paper strips, then you will want to make sure to check out this month’s blog post as I have been featuring this pack of papers with lots of ways to use paper strips.
To achieve the quilted look, I used the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder after I glued down all my paper strips. You might be asking; how did I get those paper strips all even and the same points to the ends. That is a little secret, but I’m going to tell you. After you have completed the strips, you adhere a little 3/4″ X 3/4″ square in each of the corners and then when you emboss the entire piece, those little squares embed into the cardstock, and it appears that you trimmed or cut the ends of the strips like shown.
I used both bundles in the Country Woods Suite Collection. The sentiment is from the Country Birdhouse Bundle and the little flower die cuts are from the Country Flowers Bundle. This suite of products has a lot of products that all coordinate together beautifully. The Eyelet Embossing Folder is also in the product suite as is the Basic Gray and Smoky Slate Pearls.
Both cards are beautiful, and I really can’t choose a favorite, which color combination are you more drawn to? The Pool Party and Early Espresso or the Petal Pink and Smoky Slate?
