Create Gorgeous Stars At Night Christmas Cards This Season

Stars at night Christmas Cards

With the Stars at Night bundle, you can create some gorgeous Christmas Cards this holiday season. You may think these cards are similar to a card sample from the Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog and you would be correct. I decided to try out one of the samples from the mini and these were the results.  Not perfect, not the same, but a good try.   Do you ever try to copy the card samples from the catalogs?  If I’m pressed for time or just run into a creative block I will turn to the samples in the catalogs and try my hand at recreating them.  No, a lot of times not the same but the recipients probably won’t know that I was trying to copy something and if they did, I’m sure they would love the card just the same.  As a demonstrator we get the PDF file of the supplies used for all the samples in the catalogs but I didn’t feel like looking for it so I just went by the picture.

This was my first try at the card shown on page 17 of the mini catalog.  I think I got the base of the card correct but failed when it came to the main star.    Night of Navy piece on the front is a piece from the O Holy Night Designer Series Paper.  I cut this to be 3 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ and the Gold foil piece is 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ mounted onto a Night of Navy card base.

The stars were die cut and embossed at the same time using the Stars of Night Hybrid Embossing Folder; it not only die cuts but embosses at the same time.   If you haven’t ever used one of these types of folders, they can be a little intimidating as you might be worried about putting the die inside the folder and running it through your cut & emboss machine; I mean the die is supposed to die cut, correct?  Well, no worries, it is super simple, and you won’t be wrecking your embossing folder it was designed to die cut and emboss at the same time.  Place the 3-star outline die inside the folder that you see the Stampin’ Up! logo on; it will sort of snap in place where it belongs, then place your cardstock over the top facing down and fold the folder close and run it through your machine.

Those 3 little stars on the sides were die cut from a piece of gold foil that I attached the adhesive sheet behind so adhering them to the card front was super easy and no mess.  When I was finished with the card I knew something about the stars I used was not correct, it just didn’t look like the sample from the Stampin’ Up! mini catalog.  So back to the drawing board.

This was card #2 I think I nailed the star like the catalog on this one; the only difference was I cut my gold foil smaller than the whole card front.  I do like a bit of the Night of Navy boarder, and it saved me a bit of gold foil as well.  Oh, by the way the Gold Foil is on the Seasonal Sale going on until November 16, tomorrow and everything is while supplies last so if you love the gold foil grab it TODAY, it is on LOW Inventory.  Seasonal sale information down below in this post.

After studying the picture, I decided on using 3 different die cuts than I did with the first sample.  These dies were all individual dies that didn’t go inside the embossing folder.  The first die I used to cut the designer series paper was the more solid die with the sparkles around and it die cuts out the center.  I then used it again on the gold foil and the long skinny star and smaller star.  You will notice a bit of sparkle and that was another longer thicker die used on the gold glimmer paper (which is sold out).  These star die cuts were all attached with a mini dimensional.

The sentiment is embossed using gold embossing powder onto Night of Navy cardstock and then cut up into the two strips.  They are also popped up using dimensionals.

So, there you have it two Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog cased cards two versions not identical to the catalog version but still very striking and gorgeous.  Do you have a favorite?

My Customer Appreciation for November:

handmade cards designer series paper

This month’s customer appreciation features handmade cards and a pack of designer series paper. You choose which pack you would like to receive all occasion or all Christmas cards. Which will you choose?

As you probably already know every Thursday night on my YouTube Channel “The Stamp Camp” I go live with a One Sheet Wonder class.  Now sometimes it is just 1 card and other times it is piles of cards.  Doing this every week sure builds up a supply of cards in no time at all; so, what to do with them is always a concern.  I’ve donated piles of cards to local organizations, and I still have piles left.  Not to mention my piles of designer series paper.  I pretty much purchase all the different paper packs because I do love a good one sheet wonder but that also leaves me with piles of designer paper as well.

So with that being said, this month is a twofer.  What is that?  It means not only will you receive a package of 10 cards from me but also a 6 x 6 package of designer series paper.  The Christmas Card bundle will have 12 cards in the pack as it is a slightly smaller pack of designer paper.

How do you get this package of Handmade Cards & Designer Series Paper Bundle?

All you need to do is place a min. $60.00 order with me and you must use the host code: QSQSSMMM

Remember you MUST use the Host Code unless your order is over $150.00, then do NOT use the host code and you will receive the host benefits, plus a package.  (I’ll send you an email regarding shipping of the package).

Once you have placed your order with me, I will email you and ask which type of bundle you would like to receive All Occasion or All ChristmasNOTE: I am OUT OF CHRISTMAS designer series paper SO if you would like all Christmas Cards you will still get 12 cards and an All Occasion bundle.  I will then send you a PayPal invoice for $5.00 to cover the cost of shipping.  The 6 x 6 paper packs of All Occasion have approximately 1/2″ – 3/4″ thick of designer papers and the Christmas packs are approximately 1/2″ thick of designer papers, but I’ve also included 2 more cards in the pack.
