Welcome to another week of The Stamp Camp Card Sketches! Today, I’m featuring Sketch #6—super easy card making for beginners with this simple layout that pairs perfectly with the Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper.   This 6″x6″ paper pack is packed full of stunning scenic and floral prints, ideal for any occasion—thank you, sympathy, thinking of you, or even a get well card.

If this is your first week joining me, you will find the first 5 sketches HERE.

One Sketch, Three Unique Cards

I’ve used this sketch in a few different ways to show how versatile it is—even though the layout stays the same, the finished cards each have a unique look and feel.

  • Card 1: Horizontal Scenic Layout
This card uses the sketch just as shown—horizontally—with a lovely downtown scenic view. It’s perfect for a thank you, thinking of you, or get well sentiment.

The card base is the Basic Beige and I’ve matted the scenic print on a piece of Basic Black cardstock bringing the picture to live.  I’ve decided to make this a Thank You card, but could easily make a card for any occasion and it would be just as lovely without a sentiment at all.

  • Card 2: Vertical Floral Layout
Same sketch, turned vertically! For this version, I chose this beautiful blue floral print and paired with the gorgeous new Secret Sea In Color for the card base. A touch of Basic White layered behind the floral panel really makes it pop. This version makes a beautiful sympathy card, but again can be used for any occasion.

For these first two samples I cut the card base 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.  The matted piece under the print is 3 3/8″ X 4 5/8″ and the Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper is 3 1/4″ X 4 1/2″.

By changing up the placement of the sentiment piece, gives it a whole new look as well.  I determine where I want my sentiment piece by looking at the print I’m using and deciding where the best placement would be.  Choose a spot on your card front where you are not covering up much of the beautiful prints.

What did I tell you, easy card making for beginners with my card sketches.  Now, I couldn’t stop with just a horizontal and vertical take on the sketch I had to bring in a fun fold card as well.

  • Card 3: Fun Fold Surprise
For the third card, I used the same layout as Card #1 but turned it into a fun fold card! The scenic print on the card front is the only opening on this card.

This card looks like a regular card, but the fun fold comes into view when you open up the mini card on the front.  You could make this a full card that has a little card on the front that opens and then inside the full card you would have added space for writing or stamping a sentiment.  I decided I just wanted a base piece with the mini card on the front.  I made this one a thank you card, but it would also be perfect for Father’s Day or any special occasion.

To create this card I cut the Secret Sea cardstock 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ and cut a piece of Basic Beige 3 1/2″ X 9 1/2″ scored at 4 3/4″.  The beautiful scenic print on the front is 4 5/8″ X 3 3/8″.  I also added a little 3/4″ X 3 1/2″ strip  to the inside of the card from the printed paper.

With just one easy sketch and beautiful coordinating supplies, you’ll be amazed at the variety of stunning cards you can create. Perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike!
