Expand your creativity with this super quick and easy center pop up fun fold card. Trust me when I say you will have so much fun creating these cards that you won’t be able to stop at just one card. Once you start making these you’ll begin to think of other papers, stamp sets and accessories that you can use to create all sorts of fun cards.
For the first few samples I’m going to show you I used the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper which is part of my Stamp Camp at Home Card Club Kit for this month. This month club members will be creating 8 cards using this gorgeous pack of papers, the paper accent butterflies, and the pretty purple fine shimmer gems. Plus, as a club member they will receive bonus PDF files like today’s fun fold cards during the month. If you haven’t heard about my Card Club Kit; make sure to check out the blog post HERE.
See how the center pops up and stays popped up when you open the card. How cool is that? To create that center circle, pop up I used the Stylish Shapes dies to die cut the pop-up opening and then used another circle die from the set to create the white circle matted on top. I also used the Paper Butterfly Accents to decorate the pop-up portion. These butterflies come in white, so I used the Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape inks with the small blender brush to color them.
I decided to create a video for you, so you can see how this fun fold card comes together, but first let’s look at a couple more samples.
This is using the same Perennial Lavender paper pack just another print from the pack and instead of the Highland Heather card base I went with the Gorgeous Grape card base. This card is a bit richer in color I think than the more softer Highland Heather cardstock. I guess it is just a matter of preference if you prefer the lighter or darker color purple.
The purple fine shimmer gems come in the Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, and Berry Burst. Mix or match your gems to your cards or use all the same color the choice is yours.
This card might give you a little bit better view of the inside and how the center pop-up piece sits inside the card when it is opened. I also carried the designer series paper to the inside basic white piece to add some color and carry it through from the front.
I demonstrated this version of the card during my team meeting last night. I pulled out the Crumb Cake color for my card base from the paper print and used a bolder Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper print. I also went with a larger butterfly on the pop-up piece. I could do this because I used a smaller sentiment on the front, which gave me a bit more room to go with the larger butterfly. The Thank You sentiment is from the soon to be retired Charming Sentiments stamp set.
I also should note that the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper is NOT retiring, and you will be able to see it again and purchase it from the new Annual Catalog. Just the Perennial Postage stamp set is retiring; the coordinate Perennial Postage dies are in the new catalog. You will find a complete list of all the retiring items below in this blog post.
I couldn’t stop creating this fun fold card with the Perennial Lavender paper, but I wanted to try it with the Hot Air Balloon suite. So, I pull out my Lighter Than Air paper pack and the Hot Air Balloon bundle.
When I first saw this pop-up card, I knew I wanted to create this card using the Hot Air Balloon Bundle and coordinating Lighter Than Air Designer Series Paper, because the pop-up mechanism just reminded me of balloons going up in the air. I’m going to remind you again that this paper pack is on the Retired List and is only available while supplies last. The Hot Air Balloon bundle is carrying over into the New Annual Catalog but will no longer be sold in a bundle; so, save 10% and get the bundle in April.
The Rainbow Dots are the perfect accents for this card and the backside of the cloud print is the dotted paper shown on the inside of the card. The perfect combination for this sweet birthday card. I used the coordinating balloon dies to die cut the printed paper and I hand cut out the little baskets.
