Four Fun Fold Cards with Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper

Last night was One Sheet Wonder night and this month I’m featuring the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper in my Stamp Camp at Home Card Club Kit, so you know that will be the paper I will be using for this month’s Thursday night class.  If you haven’t heard about my card club, you can check out the blog post HERE.

The Perennial Lavender paper is another one of those paper packs that you just cannot create a bad card; the prints are all beautiful.  You will most likely have a hard time deciding which side of the print you want to use.  If you are a purple fan, you will love the Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape tones in the prints.

This was the first card made after I cut up the whole 12 X 12 sheet.  This is a hinged card; one I’ve never done before.   I’ve created hinged cards before just a bit different hinge mechanism.
For this card I pulled out the Highland Heather color from the print and used that for my card base pieces.  I also incorporated the Paper Butterfly Accents which are part of the suite of products.   The sentiment is from the coordinating Perennial Postage stamp set which is currently bundled with the Perennial Postage dies.  Something you may want to consider purchasing now as the stamp set will no longer be available after April.   You will save 10% of you purchase the bundle this month.

On the inside I attached a flower created from the Painted Lavender stamp set which is also sold in a bundle with the coordinating Painted Lavender dies.  This bundle of products will be in the new annual catalog, but will no longer be bundles; so, save 10% and get it this month.  In the video I showed how I got the two-toned images of this flower.    I first stamped the thicker flower image using the lighter Highland Heather ink and then stamped over the top with the darker Gorgeous Grape ink.   I then used the coordinating die to die cut out the flower image and adhered it to the inside of the card as shown.

The second hinged card was created just like the first one, except I decorated the front with just the stamps from the Painted Lavender stamp set.  These were stamped on one of the postage stamps dies from the coordinating Perennial Postage die set.  I then accented this piece with the purple fine shimmer gems and the Crumb Cake twine.
Those were the first two fun fold cards I created with the main pieces from the Perennial Lavender designer series paper piece.

This was my prototype to see how I could get my cards out of one 12 X 12 sheet of printed paper.  This did not come from the piece I cut up during the video; this was my first idea piece to see if my plan for the one sheet wonder would work.   I also saw a bouquet done with the Painted Lavender stamp set and wanted to give it a try and it fit perfectly on the front of this hinged card.  I decided not to put a sentiment on the front so I can use this card for any occasion that I decide.
For this card I chose to use the Gorgeous Grape cardstock for my card base and the mats for the designer series paper.  I also brought in the purple fine shimmer gems with the crumb cake twine to bundle my bouquet.

After creating the two hinged fun fold cards I had 2 pieces 2 3/4″ X 5 1/4″ left-over and a strip 1 1/2″ X 12″ left-over.  So, I created 2 different cards with these left-over pieces.  This first card is a flip-back side panel to open the card.  For this card I used the Thick Basic White cardstock and the Gorgeous Grape for a mat piece under the printed paper.

Here is the inside so you can see how the side panel flips back to open the card.  I ended up cutting my strip down to 1″ X 5 1/2″ and used the left-over 1/2″ on the opposite side of the card opening.  I really like the look of that and I’m sure I’ll be using this technique on future cards.  You will also notice that the sentiment piece from the front of the card is attached to the hinged portion of the card front.   Just another card with a hinged mechanism done in a different way.

This card looks the same but it’s not.  It gives the illusion of being a hinged card, but it isn’t.  The only difference is I didn’t score the side to make it a hinge card.  This card is created just by cutting a strip off the right-hand side.  This is probably one of the simplest fun fold cards you can make.  The sentiment piece on this card is attached to the front panel of the card and not on the side piece.
