Fun Fold Cards With Nested Essentials Dies & Masterfully Made Paper

fun fold cards with masterfully made designer series papers

If you follow my blog than you know I love fun fold cards so combining fun folds with the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper and the New Nested Essentials dies was a win, win for me.   When I saw the Nested dies in the annual catalog I knew right away they would be one of the first things on my list to order.  I love the versatility you can get with framelit dies.

I also just got the package of the Masterfully Made designer papers and decided to rip into it and see what I could come up with.   When I saw this particular print in the package I knew right away I wanted to combine it with the Nested Essentials dies and create some unique arms for my cards.  What do I mean by “arms”?  Well keep reading this article to find out.  So fun and so easy to add a little bit of interest to a plain ole card.

Okay so this is card #1 and yes it is just a regular ole card.  I wanted to test out all the different shaped dies in the Nested Essentials Dies so I had to make at least one card with this framelit die.  I also changed up the card base colors for all three cards as I wanted to see which color card base I liked best with this print.  This particular pack of Designer Series Paper has the following solid card stock colors in the prints: Azure Afternoon, Berry Burst, Crushed Curry, Fresh Freesia, Lemon Lime Twist, Lemon Lolly, Lost Lagoon, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Pretty Peacock, Pumpkin Pie, and Sweet Sorbet.  That’s a LOT of colors.

For this card I went with the Fresh Freesia card base and the sentiment is from the Go To Greetings stamp set and the ink is Berry Burst.

For card #2 I used Pretty Peacock for the card base and the piece that looks like a pennant is one of the Nested Essentials dies.   This particular die piece is what I call the “arm” piece and which also makes these last two cards fun fold cards.   To create the “arm” for this card all I did was die cut out the 2 sizes of framelit dies and then I scored it at the center point and cut off 1/2″.  I only did this for the Pretty Peacock die and the Basic White Die I just cut off at the center point.

Here you can see my “arm” piece.  I also used a very tiny Velcro dot to close the arm.   I get these dots from Amazon and you will find the link to them HERE.  I do have an affiliated link with Amazon so I do make a small percentage off my Amazon sales.  You will find all my fun stamping Amazon finds under my Product Offerings tab at the top of my blog.

Card #3 base is Berry Burst and I also incorporated the Stylish Shapes Dies with the Nested Essentials dies.  For this “arm” on this fun fold card I die cut a long Berry Burst strip and cut off the section I didn’t need after I scored a 1/2″ section.  I then die cut a piece of basic white cardstock using the banner die shown from the Stylish Shapes dies cutting off the edge making it flush with the Berry Burst banner.

I also positioned the “arm” piece towards the bottom half of the card instead of at the top as I did in card #2.  Again I used my mini velcro dots for closure on this card.  I like how the bottom piece of velcro is clear so you really can’t see it that well on the printed paper.

I forgot to take an inside picture but it has a piece of basic white cardstock on the inside and the little 1/2″ scored section from the “arm” in adhered behind the basic white inside piece.

The sentiments on all the cards is from the Go To Greetings stamp set.
