Playing in the Rain Fun Fold Card and More

Today I have a new to me fun fold card well cards to show you.  First up is this super cute Playing in the Rain card for the littles in your life.  Is’t he the cutest?  I must confess I only ordered this suite of products for Sophia I thought she would love all the little critters in the stamp set and all the dies in the bundle.  The paper has images that match the dies so you can die cut them out of the paper if you want, which is what I did for this card.  I thought this print from the Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper went perfectly with my little turtle friend here; don’t you?  Before I get too involved in this card let’s get a bit of backstory.

Have you heard about the slide and lock cards yet? Well today I’m going to show you 3 ways to create the slide and lock technique.  If you joined me live on my YouTube Channel or Facebook page today then you have seen these cards in action.  If you missed it you can watch the video down below in this blog post.

The slide and lock technique is probably not new to you but it is to me.  I met with friends on Wednesday for coffee and my friend Donne showed a super cute box that she created with the slide and lock mechanism and I knew right away I wanted to make a box but cards as well.  So that’s what I’ve done for today’s video and blog post.   I’ve created this sweet little turtle card for kids and a gift ensemble for a birthday or even Mother’s day; thinking ahead. :).

This is the inside of my Playing in the Rain Turtle friend card showcasing the slide and lock element that slides and locks the card front together.  So cool and so easy!  I’m not sure why I never tried this fun fold technique before.  Wouldn’t you like to create this slide and lock fun fold card?

This cute little card can be used for many different occasions; hello and happy birthday, hello and get well, hello and I heard you weren’t feeling well; you get the idea.

Vertical Slide and Lock Cards:

I couldn’t resist doing this technique with the Hues of Happiness Designer Series paper; I think this is my all time favorite paper pack and it is in the annual catalog so it will be around for a few more months yet.  It works for so many different occasions.  I’ve settled on Happy Birthday and Happy Mother’s Day for today’s fun fold cards.  Both of these cards use the slide and lock mechanism on the front; one is square and the other is just the square turned.  I just wanted to showcase a couple of different shapes and ways you can do this technique.

Now, I told you that my friend Donne brought a box that had the slide and lock mechanism to open and close the box and that got me thinking about doing a gift ensemble.  So here it is:

Now what would you put inside the box?  Jewelry is what came to my mind first; then chocolates.  This little box will hold Ghirardelli Chocolates or any other small chocolates like Dove or Hershey’s.   This little gift ensemble can become an expensive gift or just a little something; it all depends on what you put inside your box.

The jewels I used on the card and the box are the new Flat Adhesive-backed Pearls; because I think Mother or Pearl every time I look at them and my first card I made was the Happy Mother’s Day card so I went with these for all the projects.
