Simple Card Sketch Ideas: 3 Papers, 3 Cards, Endless Possibilities!

simple card sketch ideas
Looking for simple card sketch ideas that make creating handmade cards quick, easy, and fun? You’re in the right place! This week at The Stamp Camp, I’m sharing Card Sketch #78 and showing you how to create three beautiful handmade cards using three different Stampin’ Up!® Designer Series Paper collections. Whether you’re new to stamping, returning to card making, or just looking for card sketches free to download and print, this week’s layout is a great addition to your collection!

One of my favorite things about card sketches is how easy they make the creative process. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time you sit down to make a card. Simply choose your favorite Designer Series Paper, coordinate your cardstock, add a sentiment, and you’re ready to create!

Today, I’m featuring the Timeless Christmas, Sunflower Fields, and Painted Patch Designer Series Papers. Each card has its own personality, but all three started with the same Card Sketch #78.

Card #1 – Timeless Christmas Suite Collection

We’re starting with a little Christmas cheer using the beautiful Timeless Christmas Suite Collection!

I chose Poppy Parade for my card base and layered a piece of Timeless Christmas Designer Series Paper onto Peaceful Pine cardstock before attaching it to the card front.

For my sentiment, I used the largest banner die from the Nested Essentials Dies. I then stamped the holly and berries from the coordinating stamp set, hand-cut the images, and attached them to the card front.

Those little holly and berry accents add just the right amount of Christmas charm!

November Customer Appreciation Bonus!

The Timeless Christmas Suite Collection is also featured in my November 1–15, 2026 Customer Appreciation offer! When you place a qualifying order in my online Stampin’ Up! store, you can receive 20 downloadable project PDFs featuring this beautiful collection.

Card #2 – Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper

Who says sunflowers are just for summer? This next card features the gorgeous Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper paired with the Radiant Sunflowers Bundle.

I started with a Early Espresso card base and added my Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper.

Next, I used the Radiant Sunflowers Dies to create my sunflower. The flower was die-cut from Golden Glow cardstock, while the leaves and flower center were die-cut from Secret Sea cardstock.

For my greeting, I stamped “Wishing You So Much Happiness” and die-cut it using the second-largest banner die from the Nested Essentials Dies.

I layered the sentiment onto the largest banner die-cut in Early Espresso and attached it to the card front.

I love how the Golden Glow sunflower pops against the rich Secret Sea cardstock!

This is a perfect example of how simple card sketch ideas can be adapted to create handmade cards for so many different occasions.

Card #3 – Painted Patch Designer Series Paper

For my third card, I decided to switch things up just a little while still following Card Sketch #78.

This time, I’m using the Painted Patch Designer Series Paper with a Secret Sea card base.

I added a background layer,  by embossing a piece of Pool Party cardstock using the Rustic Check Embossing Folder. This adds a beautiful textured element to the card front.

I then layered a piece of Painted Patch Designer Series Paper onto Secret Sea cardstock and attached it to the card.

For the sentiment, I used the same two banner dies from the Nested Essentials Dies that I used on my sunflower card.

To finish things off, I die-cut a pumpkin directly from the Painted Patch Designer Series Paper and added a few Painted Patch Dots for embellishments.

This is one of my favorite ways to stretch a card sketch! Simply replace a Designer Series Paper layer with embossed cardstock to add texture and give your card a completely different look.
