Simple Masculine Cards With Timeless Plaid One Sheet Wonder Technique

Do you struggle creating simple masculine cards? Struggle no more with my Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper One Sheet Wonder Cards. With just two 6 x 6 sheets of this beautiful plaid paper, I will show you how to get 4 cards.

A few months back I posted a question on the team Facebook page asking what they would like to see demonstrated at the meetings.  This could be anything from techniques to fun folds, gift card holders, 3D projects, ornaments etc.  Well last night it was my turn to demonstrate so I went to the questionnaire and saw a few team members wanted ideas for masculine cards.  With this in mind I started to think of what I could do with the products I had, and the Timeless Plaid paper came to mind.  Maybe it is because Bill has a lot of plaid shirts, but when I see plaid, I immediately think masculine.  Although there are some pretty plaid prints in this pack that would make some beautiful feminine cards as well.  Luckily my One Sheet Wonder technique can be done in any prints that you have on hand.

The Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper is part of the suite of products I’m using for my Stamp Camp at Home Card Club kit this month; so, it was a win, win for me.   If you missed my post about this month’s club kit you can find all the details HERE.

Before the team meeting last night, I posted the following picture of supplies needed so those who wished to stamp along with me during the meeting knew what they needed.

I also did a video so all of you can watch or follow along with me to create your very own simple masculine cards with whatever paper you have on hand.  You will find the video below in this blog post but first let’s take a closer look at each of the cards.

With this one sheet wonder technique you will need two 6 x 6 sheets of designer series paper.  The bottom card was shown during the video, and the top card was the card I demonstrated at the meeting.  This is card #1 and it the simplest of the 4 cards to create, so you might just want to create all 4 of your cards the exact same way.  The beauty of this one sheet wonder technique is that the cutting is basically all the same, so you can easily create one of the card layouts 4 times.

Cards #2 are just a bit different as the 3 x 3 square was cut on the diagonal and the card was laid out vertical versus horizontally.  The sentiments on all the cards are from the Simply Said stamp set and this happy birthday sentiment fits perfectly on the Nested Essentials dies.  The bling is the Textured Adhesive-Backed dots the perfect masculine accent.

Cards #3 – The difference here is that the 3 x 3 square was now cut into four 1 1/2″ X 1 1/2″ squares and attached to the two different size mat pieces.  I also decided to show if you do not have the Stitched Nested dies you could substitute with the Heartfelt Hexagon punch.  I punched the sentiment out of my Basic Beige cardstock and layered a Mossy Meadow punched piece behind it.  I also changed the sentiment to be Thinking of You instead of the Happy Birthday.  There is a Happy Birthday sentiment in the stamp set that would also fit this punched piece.

Cards #4 – The 3 x 3 square was cut into strips 1″ X 3″ and attached to coordinating solid color strips 1 1/4″ X 3 1/4″.  The leftover 1/2″ strip from the Timeless Plaid was first added across the card front before the strips were added and the sentiment popped up.
