Create Simple Stamping Designs With Card Sketches & Designer Series Paper. Turn beautiful paper into quick and easy cards in a flash with a card sketch. Last week Wednesday I started a new series of card sketches. We all get into a creative rut from time to time and card sketches have always been my go to for getting out of my creative rut and getting my mojo started again. If you haven’t ever tried a card sketch I invite you to give it a try. You might be surprised by how much you like them.
If you missed last week’s sketch you can find it HERE. It was the perfect masculine card which could be used for birthday’s, father’s day or even a retirement card, with it’s little badger going fishing from the Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper pack, it is a super sweet card.
I’m starting off my Sketch Card series with simple stamping designs, so even the beginner can master these sketches.
I’ve also shared two versions again this week, so you can see how to take it up a notch by just added a bit more to it.
Card #1:
This card pretty much follows the sketch exactly. Your card base can either be 4 1/4″ X 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ or 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. The next layer is the background piece which is 4″ X 5 1/4″ you can make this a different color cardstock or use designer series paper, like I did. This is a new paper pack from the New Online Exclusive products, which just started yesterday, as did the new Annual Catalog, so make sure to check that out. This new paper pack is just beautiful, I know I always so that, but it is! It is called the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper. You will be seeing more of these gorgeous prints.
The center strip down the card front can be any size that you wish. I went with a 1 1/2″ X 5 1/4″ strip of the Floral Impressions paper, but you can go wider or narrower. The sentiment was stamped onto a banner die cut from the Stylish Shapes dies.
Card #2:
This card was created the exact same way expect I added a piece of coordinating cardstock under the front strip of the Floral Impressions paper and I also added another strip of the same color cardstock under the sentiment banner.
You can see how they are both the same layout, but the second card is just stepped up a bit with the added cardstock. Both are very lovely cards and I’m sure anyone would love to receive them.
Which are you are more drawn to? Have you ever used a sketch challenge? Are you ready to start?
I would recommend purchasing a 3-ring binder, some page protectors, download and print my sketches and you will be well on your way to have a great tool in your craft room for when you get into a creative rut.
