Stampin’ Up! Ink Refills Techniques and Ideas

This week’s question is, “What can you do with the Stampin’ Up! ink refills besides re-inking the ink pads?”

Well let’s just say there are many different stamping techniques that you can do with ink refills.  I’ve only touched on a few of those techniques, but I’ll show you my top techniques and ideas.

Join me Live on Thursday, November 17 at 8:00PM EST on my YouTube Channel, “The Stamp Camp” where I’ll show you how to create the 8 different cards that I have to show you today.  So, grab your supplies, ink refills, and join me on Thursday, create along with me or watch and create them later.  You will find the Downloadable Project Sheet below in this blog post.

Stamping Techniques using Ink Refills – Scenic Background Baby Wipe Swipe Technique

First up is this scenic background card using the ink refills and the baby wipe technique.  This is an old technique with a twist.  Just a little something different that you can do with  baby wipes and ink refills.  The sentiment on this card is from the Wildlife Wonder stamp set and die cut that it is stamped on is from the Harvest Dies.  The black scene and deer are from the Grove Dies.

This is the perfect card for this time of the year; as we have been having lots of deer sightings in our yard.

Stampin’ Up! Ink Refills – Faux Polished Stone

Here’s another one of those oldie but goodie techniques and ideas to share.  This time we will use the ink refills with alcohol and a cotton ball.  This was done years ago with a metallic ink refill and the glossy cardstock.  We will add a bit of shimmer by using the Shimmery White cardstock.  You can use your fun background piece as the focal point on your card or die cut it with different dies or use punches to punch out shapes.  There are many different things you can do with this background.

The sentiment in the center diagonal spot is from the Happiness Abounds stamp set.  I had to add those gorgeous Glossy Dots to both ends of the sentiment.  This would be a card that Sophia would love in all the pretty purples.

Stamping Techniques using Ink Refills – Shaving Cream Technique

Yes, another oldie but goodie technique using the ink refills.  I’m bringing back the oldies so I can show you the new twist on those old techniques.  So first I’ll show you the old style way of doing this Shaving Cream Technique and then I’ll show you the twist by using it with dies.  Just like the technique before you can use the baby wipe technique to be punched or die cut or both.  I used it on this card as a background and added the silver die cut from the Artistic Dies with the sentiment from the Artistically inked stamp set over the top.  The sentiment was embossed in silver on a die cut created using the Seasonal Labels die.

Here is the twist on the shaving cream technique.  Did you know that you can use your dies to create fun backgrounds with the shaving cream technique?  You could also use stencils or even the negative punched images.  The possibilities are endless!

In the download project sheets you will find all the supplies that I used but I will say that this stamp set is the Cottage Rose and I used last week’s Watercoloring Technique on the image.  If you missed last week’s question on how to color line art images, click HERE to see what you missed.

Stamping Techniques and Idea using Ink Refills For Spritzing Stencils

For this beautiful Christmas card I used the Stencil and the Stampin’ Spritzer filled with alcohol and the ink refill.  A simple way to create a fun background in no time.   I had to show you at least one Christmas card using the ink refills.  This is from the Christmas Banners bundle and the Candy Canes dies using the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks.

I also used the wooden Textural Elements on this card and colored the berries with the Real Red Blends.  I also used those beautiful Festive Pearls to add just the right accent to the card.

Stampin’ Up! Ink Refills – Embossing Paste

Okay I said one Christmas card but, I wouldn’t consider this a Christmas card; it just uses the Christmas Scottie bundle and the Stamping Embossing Paste and I couldn’t resist using the New Framed Florets Dies.    This would be a Sophia card for sure.  I have a couple of things to show you with the embossing paste and stencils technique; so make sure to tune in Thursday night at 8:00PM EST on my YouTube channel.

Stamping Techniques and Ideas using Ink Refills – Re-Inker Splatter

This is a subtle technique but a technique none the less.  I’ll show you how to use your ink refills to create this splatter on your card fronts.  This is a great technique if you are needing just a little something to add to your card to take away white space or just add a bit of something.  The stamp set and punch are a bundle and it is called the Lovely & Lasting Bundle.  Generally it is always cheaper to purchase the bundles; BUT, tomorrow it will be a better deal to purchase them separately!

On this card I combined the Watercolor Wash technique with the Splatter technique.  This was a fun card using the Adventurous Journey stamp set, this set will be on sale beginning November 15 – 18 at 15% off!
