One Sketch, Endless Possibilities: Downloadable Card Sketch Examples!

downloadable card sketches from the stamp camp

Looking for downloadable card sketch examples that make creating beautiful handmade cards quick and easy? You’ve come to the right place! Today at The Stamp Camp, I’m sharing Card Sketch #75, a simple and versatile layout that I’ve used to create four completely different handmade cards.

Whether you’re just getting started with card making or have been stamping for years, you’ll love how easy it is to take one sketch and make it your own!

One of my favorite things about simple card sketches for beginners is that you don’t need a lot of supplies or complicated techniques to create beautiful cards. Just grab your favorite Stampin’ Up!® Designer Series Paper, coordinating cardstock, stamps, and embellishments, and you’re ready to create!

For today’s card sketch, I’ve created two Christmas cards, a fall-themed card, and a sunflower-inspired Thinking of You card. Each card uses the same basic layout, but I’ve changed a few elements to show you just how versatile beginner-friendly card making sketches can be.

Let’s take a closer look at each card!

Card #1: A Cozy Christmas Card with Neutral Noel Designer Series Paper

For my first card, I followed Card Sketch #75 pretty much exactly as shown.

I started with a Mossy Meadow cardstock base, followed by a mat of Basic Beige cardstock and a beautiful print from the Neutral Noel Designer Series Paper.

For my focal point, I layered Mossy Meadow cardstock with Basic Beige cardstock and stamped two Christmas trees using Mossy Meadow ink.

Next, I used the Welcome Noel Bundle to die cut my little house. I placed a piece of Gold Foil behind the house so the windows would have a beautiful golden glow, then popped the house up on the card front for added dimension.

The sentiment strip across the bottom was stamped using the Noel Tidings Stamp Set, and I finished the card with a few Gold Adhesive-Backed Dots.

On the inside, I added a piece of Basic Beige cardstock with a coordinating strip of Neutral Noel Designer Series Paper.

Why I love this card: It shows how you can follow a card sketch exactly as designed and still create something beautiful and unique simply by choosing your favorite papers and stamps.

Card #2: A Festive Christmas Card Using a Designer Series Paper Tag

For my second card, I decided to change things up a bit!

I started with a Poppy Parade cardstock base, followed by a mat of Basic White cardstock. I then attached two coordinating prints from the Timeless Christmas Designer Series Paper to create my background.

Here’s where I changed the sketch!

Instead of cutting cardstock for my focal point, I used one of the tags from the Timeless Christmas Designer Series Paper. I trimmed the tag to my desired size and stamped my sentiment using the Scalloped Christmas Cheer Stamp Set and Poppy Parade ink.

To finish the card, I tied a bow using the White Ribbon from the suite and attached it to the top of my tag with a Mini Glue Dot.

Beginner Card Making Tip: Don’t feel like you always have to use cardstock for the focal point shown on a sketch! Try using a decorative tag, die cut, stamped image, or even a pretty design cut from your Designer Series Paper.

That’s the beauty of using printable card sketch templates. They provide the basic layout, but you get to decide how to make it your own!

Card #3: A Fun Fall Card with Painted Patch Designer Series Paper

For my third card, I’m switching from Christmas to fall with the colorful Painted Patch Designer Series Paper.

I started with a Calypso Coral cardstock base and added a mat of Pool Party cardstock.

Instead of covering the entire background with Designer Series Paper, I embossed the Pool Party cardstock using the Rustic Check Embossing Folder, which coordinates beautifully with the Painted Patch Suite.

I attached a piece of Painted Patch Designer Series Paper across the bottom half of the card, followed by my sentiment from the Painted Pumpkins Bundle.

For my focal point, I matted another piece of Painted Patch Designer Series Paper onto Calypso Coral cardstock.

To finish the card, I added a bow made with the Calypso Coral Copper Ribbon and a couple of coordinating Painted Patch Dots.

Easy Card Sketching Technique: Try substituting an embossed piece of cardstock for one of the Designer Series Paper layers shown on your sketch.

Embossing folders are a wonderful way to add texture and dimension to your handmade cards without making the design complicated.

This is one of my favorite easy card sketching techniques, especially when I want to give a simple layout a little something extra!

Card #4: A Beautiful Sunflower Thinking of You Card

For my fourth and final card, I used the gorgeous Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper to create a cheerful Thinking of You card.

I started with a Secret Sea cardstock base, followed by a mat of Golden Glow cardstock.

This time, I embossed the Golden Glow cardstock using the Sunflowers 3D Embossing Folder. I love how the embossed sunflower design coordinates with the beautiful Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper!

A Little Shopping Tip! The Sunflowers 3D Embossing Folder is currently on the Last Chance List and is on sale! If you love this embossing folder as much as I do, I would grab it before it’s gone for good. Once these Last Chance products sell out, they will not be available again!

I attached a piece of Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper across the bottom portion of the card and added a strip of Secret Sea Ribbon where the two sections meet.

For my focal point, I matted another beautiful sunflower print onto a rectangle of Secret Sea cardstock.

The Thinking of You sentiment was added to a die cut created with the Radiant Sunflowers Bundle.

I finished the card with a few Secret Sea Radiant Dots and a coordinating Secret Sea Ribbon bow, which I attached to the left side of the sentiment using a Mini Glue Dot.

Why I love this card: The embossed background adds so much texture, while the Designer Series Paper does most of the work!

It’s a perfect example of how simple card sketches for beginners can create beautiful, professional-looking handmade cards with just a few supplies.
