I hope you’re finding my simple card sketch templates easy to work with and that they’re helping to spark your creativity in stamping. Even if you don’t take the extra step to turn them into fun fold cards, having these basic templates on hand is a great resource to keep in your craft room for quick inspiration.

For my first card, I used the sketch template as-is. The card base is Berry Burst cardstock, cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″. I pulled this rich color directly from the Floral Charm Designer Series Paper for a coordinated look. The DSP was cut into three strips: two pieces measuring 1″ x 5 1/4″, and the last strip measuring 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″.

For the inside, I added a piece of Basic White cardstock and adhered a coordinating floral strip across the bottom edge—perfect for adding a stamped message or handwritten note.

On the card front, I layered a 2 3/8″ Berry Burst circle (punched) with a 2 1/4″ Basic White circle. If you don’t have the circle punches, the Stylish Shapes dies are a great alternative. I hand-cut one of the floral images from the DSP and added it to the layered circle for a beautiful focal point.

The ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment is stamped in Berry Burst ink on a 3/4″ x 4″ strip of white cardstock, with both ends flagged for added detail. I popped up the sentiment and focal circle using dimensionals, then finished the card with a touch of sparkle using the Charming Shimmer Faceted Dots.

If you’re looking for card sketch inspiration for handmade cards that goes beyond the basics, this next card is just what you need! It starts with a simple layout and transforms into a beautiful fun fold design—perfect for taking your handmade cards to the next level.

For this fun fold card, the base is Basic Beige cardstock measuring 5 1/2″ x 11″, scored at 1 1/4″, 5 1/2″, and 9 1/4″. Start by folding the card in half at the 5 1/2″ score line. Then, fold the 9 1/4″ score line back toward the folded edge and do the same with the 1 1/4″ score line. This creates two flaps on the left-hand side of your card front.  The final left-hand side flap will tuck behind the circle embellishment on the card front to hold it closed.

To decorate, I used the Floral Charms Designer Series Paper cut into the following pieces:

  • Two strips at 1″ x 5 1/4″ – one for the front panel, one for the back panel

  • Two strips at 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ – again, one for the front and one for the back

  • Two larger panels at 3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ – one for the main card front and one for the backside inside your card.

This layering of beautiful patterned paper adds depth and elegance to the folds, making the card both interactive and visually stunning.

To complete the card front, I used the 2 3/8″ Circle Punch to punch a circle from Basic Beige cardstock. I then hand-cut a coordinating flower from the Floral Charm Designer Series Paper and layered it onto the circle. Both the circle and flower were popped up with dimensionals for added depth and dimension. To finish it off, I added a touch of sparkle with the Charming Shimmer Faceted Dots. This circle element also serves as a clever closure, holding the front flap in place.

For my final spin on these simple card sketch templates, I created a card using just a strip of the Floral Charm Designer Series Paper—measuring 5 1/4″ x 10 3/4″. I scored the paper at 1 1/4″, 4″, and 6 3/4″. To assemble, start by folding at the 6 3/4″ score line as if you’re folding the strip in half. Then, fold the 4″ score line back to the left, and finally fold the 1 1/4″ section to the right-hand side and secure it closed.

This creates a unique and compact fun fold that showcases both sides of the designer paper beautifully, giving your card visual interest without a lot of extra layers.  This was added to a Blackberry Bliss card base 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″.

For the inside, I added a piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″—perfect for stamping a sentiment or writing a personal note. The front of the card was finished just like the first two samples, using the 2 3/8″ circle punch with a hand-cut flower from the Floral Charm Designer Series Paper, all popped up for added dimension.

So, what do you say—are you ready to give this week’s card sketch a try? Which one of these three designs will you create first?
