Week 8 of the 12 Weeks of Christmas

Saturday, November 19, 2011

We are on week 8 of our 12 Weeks of Christmas Projects/Cards. I have a super cute treat holder for you today using the stocking die and the Big Shot. I saw the skittles candy canes in the grocery store the other day and the stocking “horse” came to mind. Perfect! These remind me so much of when I was growing up we had those ponies on a stick toys. So I bought it and went right home to my stamp room to recreate the pony on a stick. I first made a box to sandwich between the two “horse” heads and the candy cane fell out, duh! Hmmm, I need a way to hold in the candy cane without gluing it into place. A few tries later and I accomplished my task. Here is a picture of my first horse:

Here is a picture of the horse I did in the video. Yes, there is a video tutorial. 🙂

Now here is the video:

The video is a little long and we had to edit it a bit; but I think you will get the idea. The box dimensions again are 5″ x 9 1/4″ score at 1 1/4″ and at 3 3/4″ with the 5″ side along the top of the simply scoring score tool. Turn the card stock and score with the 9 1/4″ side across the top of your simply scoring score tool at 4″ and then again at 5 1/4″ (in the video I said to score it at 5″ and then again at 5 1/4″.) Turn your card stock again so the 5″ side is across the top of your simply scoring score tool and score from 2 1/2″ down to 1 1/4″ flip your card stock over and do the same thing scoring at 2 1/2″ down to 1 1/4″. (This will leave you with 2 boxes on the left side top and bottom.) See the video on how to cut away 1 box and where to cut for the remaining boxes.

Here is a picture of the two horses:

These were really fun and I know my two great nephews are going to LOVE them!
Thanks for stopping by,
Glenda
