During my YouTube Class last night, I shared how to make 8 beautiful handmade cards and a coordinating box—all the cards are from just one sheet of the Mixed Media Florals Designer Series Paper. This easy One Sheet Wonder pattern works beautifully with a variety of prints, making it a fun and versatile project for any occasion.
The coordinating box made from one 8 1/2″ X 11″ piece of coordinating cardstock is the perfect way to store the cards or present them as a heartfelt handmade gift. Whether you’re crafting for a birthday, thank-you, or just-because gift, this set will definitely impress!

Let’s Start with the Beautiful Gift Box!
To begin your One Sheet Wonder Handmade Gift Ensemble Tutorial, let’s first create the gorgeous coordinating gift box designed to hold your 8 handmade cards.
This stunning box is made from a single 8″ x 8″ piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock, giving it a cheerful and bright base. For the front, I stamped one of the beautiful floral images from the Mixed Florals Bundle onto Basic White cardstock and colored it using Stampin’ Blends in Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink, Granny Apple Green, and Poppy Parade.
Once colored, I die-cut the image with the coordinating die and layered it onto a piece of Basic White cardstock matted with Basic Black for a bold pop. The sentiment comes from the Mixed Labels Bundle and is popped up for dimension.
To finish it off, I tied a piece of Black & White Gingham Ribbon (retired, but feel free to use any coordinating ribbon you have on hand) around the box. The ribbon is purely decorative, so feel free to skip it or substitute it for twine, lace, or a belly band!
You’ll notice I used a mini Velcro dot to keep the box securely closed—super simple and effective! This box is the perfect size to hold all eight 4″ x 4″ cards created from my One Sheet Wonder pattern. While it does not fit envelopes, each card is sized to fit perfectly inside a standard A2 envelope, making it convenient for mailing or gifting.
To add that extra touch of dimension and shine, I accented both the floral image on the box and each card with the coordinating Low-Profile Dots from the Mixed Media Florals Suite. These little embellishments really pull the whole ensemble together and give it a polished, professional look.
How To Create A Gift Ensemble:
Let’s Take a Peek at the Cards Inside the Box!
All eight cards in this gift set were created using just one 12″ x 12″ sheet of the Mixed Media Florals Designer Series Paper. Here’s how to cut your paper for this easy and elegant One Sheet Wonder design:
-
Start by cutting your 12″ x 12″ DSP into three 4″ x 12″ strips.
-
Then, cut each of those strips into three 4″ x 4″ squares.
-
This will give you nine 4″ x 4″ squares—but one of them will be completely white, with no design.
-
That white piece won’t go to waste! I cut it into 1/2″ wide strips to use for sentiments across my cards. You can adjust the strip widths depending on the size of your stamped greetings.
For the card bases, you’ll need:
-
8 card bases measuring 4″ x 8″, scored at 4″
-
I used Thick Basic White cardstock for a clean, crisp base that really lets the designer paper shine.
For all of my card sentiments, I used the Mixed Labels Bundle. This bundle includes a variety of versatile greetings, and I especially loved how the “Thank You” and “Happy Anniversary” sentiments fit perfectly onto the paper strips cut from the blank center panel of the DSP.
Those leftover strips from the white 4″ x 4″ square (the one without any floral print) are ideal for sentiment strips! I cut mine to 1/2″ wide, but feel free to adjust the width depending on your stamped sentiment or font size.
Each strip was either adhered flat, depending on the layout. This little trick not only uses up every bit of your DSP but also gives each card a cohesive and thoughtful finish.
Prefer a simpler option? No problem! Instead of using paper strips, you can also stamp your sentiment directly onto the card front using Black Memento ink. This works beautifully and creates a clean, classic look—especially if you want to keep things quick and minimal.
Whether you choose stamped strips or direct stamping, your cards will look polished and coordinated thanks to the versatile designs in the Mixed Media Florals Suite.
If you’re in need of a small card to slip inside a gift bag, these 4″ x 4″ cards are just right! Whether you’re giving a birthday gift, a thank-you present, or a sweet treat “just because,” these cards add a heartfelt handmade touch.
They’re also perfect for those moments when someone just needs a little pick-me-up. Maybe a friend is going through a tough time or simply needs to know someone is thinking of them—this simple little card is a beautiful way to show you care.
Sometimes, it’s the smallest cards that carry the biggest messages.
With this handmade gift ensemble tutorial, you’re well on your way to creating a thoughtful and beautiful gift for someone special. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, sending a thank-you, or just letting someone know you care, this set of cards and coordinating box is sure to brighten their day.
And remember, this project isn’t just fun to make—it’s also a great way to use your favorite Designer Series Papers and coordinating supplies. Happy crafting, and happy gifting!
