How To Create Fun Fold Cards From Simple To WOW!

how to create simple fun fold cards

Step #1:

Last week I started a series of cards taking a simple card layout to a WOW fun fold card that is super simple to create. Today I’m going to take you through the whole series of taking this simple layout and stepping it up in different ways to create some fun fold cards you will love.

The beauty of this simple card layout is that it can be done with ANY Designer Series Paper.  You may notice a few of the sample show were from yesterday’s blog post and if you are a follower on my Facebook page then you may have saw the other samples that I posted there.  If you are not a follower on my Facebook page you may want to check it out as I post different samples there throughout the day.

I consider the above cards the first step in this card layout; super simple to create and you can find the measurements on the photo as well.

Step #2:

Step #2 looks similar to step #1 except you will cut off 1″ from your card front.  So the layout looks the same it is just cut a bit differently and that 1″ strip is added to the inside Basic White cardstock.  This is a great way to decorate the inside of your card as well as the outside.  I consider this a fun fold card because it is cut just a bit differently than a regular card.  So, now I’m getting into the part on “How To Create Fun Fold Cards.”

You will also notice that I used different coloring techniques on these cards which I have listed on the photo as well.  Look how different the Designer Series Paper looks when you add a bit of color.  Choose your coloring method that you are most comfortable with and go from there.

Step #3:

Step #3 added just another fun fold element to the cards.  By creating an “arm” for the front closure it gives this simple layout a whole new look and feel.  Even the beginner stamper will be able to create fun fold cards easily just by following this simple layout and adding a few adjustments.

The “arm” piece is easily added just by adhering the scored section behind the inside Basic White cardstock piece.  Also, by changing the Shape of your focal point on the arm will give you different looks as well.  I combined different sizes of shapes and dies on my cards.

Step #4:

This is the final step in this simple card layout, unless I can think up some more.  In these samples I increased my “arm” size to make a flap.  You can make your flap any size and shape you want just by changing your measurements.  I have 2 different sizes shown and the dimensions are on the photo.
