The samples I created for today’s card sketch feature the Celebratory Sips Designer Series Paper—my featured paper pack for the July Stamp Camp at Home Card Club Kits! Consider this your sneak peek of what’s coming next week!
Let’s start by taking a look at the card that follows the sketch layout… then we’ll explore some fun alternatives to inspire your own creations.
All three of the cards I’m sharing with you today use essentially the same measurements, but each one has a unique look and feel. Simply changing the orientation, designer paper, sentiments, and layout can completely transform your card—proving just how versatile a single sketch can be!
Here are the basic measurements for all three cards:
-
Card base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
-
Designer Series Paper (Celebratory Sips): 1 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
-
Designer Series Paper (Celebratory Sips) Center panel: 3″ x 4″
-
Cardstock mat: 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
Add your sentiment using your favorite die cuts or punches—just like I did in this sample.
As you can see in the second sample, I changed the orientation of the card from vertical to horizontal. I also added a strip of the Celebratory Sips Designer Series Paper underneath the sentiment panel to help tie the design together. Even though I used the exact same measurements as the first card, simply changing the direction and adding a paper strip gives the card a completely fresh and different look.
For the final card, I wanted to show you how you can take simple stamping designs and give them a creative twist. At first glance, this card looks very similar to the first sample—but there are a few clever differences. I layered the Celebratory Sips Designer Series Paper and changed the shape and position of the sentiment, but here’s the twist:
What looks like a typical card front panel is actually the card itself!
The Basic White panel is the real card base that opens, while the Strawberry Slush piece behind it is just a flat 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ layer.
Here are the measurements for this fun twist card:
-
Strawberry Slush base layer: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (does not open)
-
Basic White card front: 3 1/4″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
-
Strawberry Slush mat: 3″ x 4″
-
Celebratory Sips DSP: 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
This is a simple way to step up your card design while still keeping it beginner-friendly!
When you flip open the card, you’ll notice yet another twist on this version of the card sketch. I took the 1 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ strip of Celebratory Sips Designer Series Paper and added it across the inside of the Basic White card.
This little detail not only adds a decorative accent to the inside but also helps the inside sentiment stand out. Plus, it leaves you with plenty of space to stamp or write a personal message—a simple way to elevate your card both inside and out!
All the sentiments and embellishments featured on these cards come from the Celebratory Sips Suite Collection, which includes:
-
Cheers & Sips Bundle
-
Celebratory Sips 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper
-
3/8″ Gold Striped Ribbon
-
