One Gorgeous Interlocking Fun Fold Card With All About Autumn

fun fold card one sheet wonder

What types of cards do you enjoy? A Fun Fold Card One Sheet Wonder Cards, Quick and Easy Cards, I’m sure I have you covered.  Every Thursday night on my YouTube Channel I create a One Sheet Wonder card or cards depending on the size of the designer series paper and layouts that I choose.  Well last night I created this gorgeous interlocking card from just one 6 x 6 sheet of the All About Autumn Designer Series Paper.

With today’s card I not only used the designer series paper on the card but on the envelope as well, so they coordinate beautifully, and it used up the entire 6 x 6 sheet. I could have easily used the 2 1/4″ strip for another card but sometimes I like to have my envelopes be just as pretty as the cards. Wouldn’t you think it extra special to receive this pretty envelope in the mail? Keep in mind when you are adding paper to an envelope you must make sure that ALL the sides are securely adhered to the envelope so that it doesn’t’ get stuck on their machines at the post office. I use liquid glue for this, just for that reason.

You may be wondering, why do you like One Sheet Wonder cards so much? Well, if you are like me, you hate cutting up your pretty designer series paper into different pieces and then only using a portion of it, thinking I’ll come back for that later and make another card. Maybe it is just me, but I generally never go back and create another card; I’m on to the next print or next pack of gorgeous prints. With One Sheet Wonder cards and layouts I use up the entire piece I end up with a nice selection of cards and I didn’t waste any of the pretty paper.

What Makes This An Interlocking Fun Fold Card

This is a gatefold card but how you attach your sentiment and additional pieces to the front of the card makes it an interlocking card.  If my sentiment banner were just a bit longer it would have made the interlocking closure a bit more effective.  But I wanted to showcase the Autumn Leaves bundle and that’s what I had to work with.  I could have extended the die cut piece but that is a bit more time consuming and this works just fine.

Part of the suite of products from the All About Autumn Suite features the Oxidized Copper Sheets and they are beautiful as well.  I wanted to bring out just that hint of copper in my leaf, so I used it for the intricate die from the bundle.  When using this intricate die, I find it works well if you use the Adhesive Backed Sheets on the backside of your piece that you are going to die cut so all you must do is peel and stick.  This is way easier than using the liquid glue or the fine tip glue pen.  It saves time and you won’t get sticky hands, which I tend to do when I’m using the liquid glue.  You may say but wait the stem of the leave is still sticky and will stick to your card front where you might not want it to be stuck.  Well, that is an easy enough fix.  All you need is an embossing buddy or if you do not have one of those any type of powder will work to take away the stickiness.  You could use baby powder, baking powder, baking soda any type of powder would work just fine.

Speaking of the leaf image let’s talk Linen Thread.  I really believe that a spool of Linen Thread should be a staple in your ribbon collection.  This can be used in so many ways and just adds a bit of a finished look.  On this card I folded the linen thread in half and then tied a bow, so I ended up with a double looped bow and adhered it with a mini glue dot.  You can tie single loop, double or even triple loop bows with linen thread because if it being so thin.  You can also just adhere loops of it behind your focal point to some character to your cards as well.  Since it is so thin you can wrap it around your card front a few times tie it in a knot or bow on the front of your card to give it some added texture and finish off your card.  No matter how you use it, the Linen thread goes with anything and everything.

As shown in this photo you can see how both the leave image and the sentiment piece overlap the outside edges of the card; this is so you can interlock them when closing the card.  I used the foam strips on the backside of the pieces as I wanted a continuance piece of foam to secure my pieces in place and make them secured a bit stronger than using dimensionals.  I also carried the printed paper to the inside bottom edge of the Very Vanilla cardstock to tie everything in and make the inside as pretty as the outside.

As I mentioned last night the All About Autumn Designer Series Paper is not available to order now but is expected to be back into the warehouse the week of October 30.  Keep checking my store to get a jump on ordering this pack of designer paper as it never last too long once it becomes available again.   Also, not available right now is the Speckled Dots which are expected to be back into the warehouse the week of November 13.  Both products are not Fall specific in my book.  The prints in the paper pack are perfect for so many different occasions and times of the year.  I see a lot of prints that can be used for reflection, sympathy, birthday, masculine cards, thinking of you etc.

If you would like a substitution for the Speckled Dots purchase a pack of the Rhinestones and the Pretty Peacock Blends and then you can color your Rhinestones with the Dark Blend and you have yourself some gorgeous jewels in the color of your choice.
