Let’s create 4 gorgeous fun fold cards from just one sheet of the Free Sale-a-bration Flight & Airy designer series paper. You are going to love these cards and the different twist I put on each one. If you joined me last night during my One Sheet Wonder night then you’ve already seen these gorgeous cards, but if you missed it you can see the cards up close here today and you will find the video for these cards down below in this post.
All 4 cards have the same layout, same measurements, same score lines, but they all have a bit of a twist to them so each one is created a bit differently. You can create them, all the same way or if you are up for a challenge create each one differently as I did in the video. During the live class I created 4 cards like the Pecan Pie cards shown below and at the end of the video I showed the Boho Blue cards that I created before the class. I think I should warn you that creating these cards is addicting and you will probably want to try them in all the different prints in the pack.
The Flight & Airy Sale-a-bration Designer Series Paper is drop dead gorgeous and I’m not sure you could create a card that wasn’t pretty. I love the print with the little birds on the branches and I’ve used that sheet for a lot of different cards. Each little bird or bird grouping was hand cut and popped up on the cards. I was super excited to share these cards last night and I hope you will enjoy creating them as much as I did.
I’ll show you each set of cards and the details for each card. These were the first cards in the set. This is your basic double-gate fold card with a square turned on its side on the front. The card base is 5 1/2″ X 11″ scored at 1 1/4″ and at 3 3/8″ on each side. The Flight & Airy paper is cut at 1 3/4″ and at 1″ and on the inside I have a piece of coordinating cardstock embossed which is 1 7/8″ X 5 1/4″ and a couple of Flight & Airy strips that are 1/2″ and 3/4″.
I used a few different Sale-a-bration products on all the cards. For the Pecan Pie cards I used the FREE Opaque Faceted Gems which require a min. $50.00 order and on the inside, coordinating color cardstock pieces I used the Softly Sophisticated Embossing folder which is part of the bundle you can choose for FREE with a min. $100.00 order and then of course the Flight & Airy paper is free with a min. $50.00 order.
These are the 2nd cards I created and the only difference on these is that I adhered the front flaps down after I attached the designer series paper. This is just a different twist on the first version, and I guess a matter of preference. If you enjoy a card that unfolds in layers then you will probably not want to adhere the front flaps down; I personally like it this way, but both are very pretty.
You can see the Calypso Coral Opaque Faceted Gems on the Pecan Pie card and on the Boho Blue card I used the Iridescent Pearls.
This is the 3rd grouping of cards and you will notice a slight difference in these from the other’s as I created a belly band from a piece of coordinating cardstock and attach the diamond piece to the belly band. The belly band will slide on and off to open the card. The center front panels are not adhered down but you could adhere them and still use the belly band, either way will work.
These were the final cards in the group. If you didn’t watch the video, you would probably be saying, where’s the twist? The twist is in the closer on these cards. I create a slide and lock mechanism with the diamond shape on the front. You can watch the video to see how it is done but you will need two of the base squares and 2 slightly smaller squares. The slide and lock mechanism is a pretty cool trick to see your recipient try and figure out how to open up these cards. Once they slide the mechanism off the cards open just like the cards in the first grouping.
There you have it four double-gate fold cards each with its own twist. Which version is your favorite, and which are you going to try and create first? Go grab your supplies and let’s get started!
