One Sheet Wonder Christmas Slimline Cards With Santa Express

Christmas Slim line cards one sheet wonder

This week I’m going to show you how to create different slimline cards for Christmas. Today I have super easy one sheet wonder cards to show you using the Santa Express Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!

I was asked by Sharon S. the following question:   “I would really love it if you could demonstrate how to create a slimline Christmas card.”  If you haven’t read it on my blog before I was asking for questions or ideas on things you would like to see and if you ask a question I will send out a package of jewels or gems.  Sharon I will need your snail mail address so I can send you your gems or jewels.

My plan is to focus on the question for the week; showing different ways to do things, different layouts etc. depending on the question.  Right now I am out to the week of November 21.  So, if you have a stamping related question let me know.

When I was looking at my Santa Express Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! I came across the following piece:

This piece of paper was screaming Slimline Christmas Cards to me!  You can see in the print exactly where to cut it into 3″ strips and then it was just a matter of how long I wanted my slim line card to be.  I went with a letter size slim line card which fits inside a letter envelope which is 3 5/8″  X 6 1/2″.  I also wanted to save on my cardstock because if you cut an 8 1/2″ X 11″ piece of cardstock 6 1/2″ X 6 1/4″ you have lots of wasted cardstock and yes the designer series paper fits it perfectly when you cut your paper 3″ X 6″ you will get 8 cards from one 12 X 12 piece of designer series paper.  But, I wanted to save paper not waste paper so I went with a piece of 12 X 12 Real Red cardstock for my card bases.  I cut it 6 x 6 and got 4 card bases from one 12 X 12 sheet.  You need 8 card bases for this one sheet wonder so you will need two sheets of 12 X 12 cardstock to get 8 cards.

Because my card bases were 6 x 6 scored at 3″ leaving you with a card base that is 3″ X 6″ and your cut Designer Series paper is 3″ X 6″ you will need to trim your designer paper down to 2 7/8″ X 5 7/8″ to fit your card base.  This way uses much less paper.

You can create these slimline cards for any occasion just change up your designer series paper.

Now that you know how I got my 8 cards let’s take a look at a few of them:

On this card I stamped my sentiment from the Leaves of Holly stamp set directly on the designer series paper.  This was the perfect piece to do this with and you have no lumps or bumps to worry about in the mail.

On this card I used the Joyful Flurry stamp set and the Stylish Shapes dies to die cut my sentiment and pop it up on the card.  I also added a few of those beautiful Festive Pearls.

On this card I used the Joyful Flurry stamp set again with the Stylish Shapes dies but cut down the designer series paper a bit more (2 3/4″ X 5 3/4″) to make a larger Real Red boarder around my designer paper.

The little candy canes I stamped on the envelope are from the coordinating Santa’s Delivery stamp set which is part of the Santa Express Suite.
