Quick and Easy Card Sketch Ideas Featuring Designer Series Paper Pieces

quick and easy card sketch ideas from the stamp camp

It’s Week #46 in my Card Sketches series, and today’s quick and easy card sketch ideas featuring designer series paper pieces are all about using what you already have on hand. If you’ve been holding onto those smaller scraps of designer series paper, this layout is perfect for turning them into a beautiful card in no time—great for any occasion.

For today’s cards, I used the Lovely & Beautiful Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Easter Joy Specialty Designer Series Paper. Both collections offer stunning patterns that make it easy to create eye-catching designs with minimal effort. The best part? This sketch is incredibly versatile. Simply swap out your designer series paper to match whatever occasion you need—birthday, thank you, thinking of you, or even seasonal celebrations.

This layout is designed to be simple, quick, and inspiring, making it ideal whether you’re crafting in a hurry or just want a no-fuss design that still looks polished and professional.

Be sure to download and print today’s card sketch and add it to a 3-ring binder. Having a collection of sketches on hand is one of the easiest ways to jumpstart your creativity whenever you sit down to craft.

If this is the first Card Sketches you’re seeing, don’t forget to visit my photo gallery here on the blog and look for the Card Sketches album. You’ll be able to download and print all of the previous sketches so you can build your own inspiration library.

Card #1 features the Lovely & Beautiful Specialty Designer Series Paper, which is part of this month’s Stamp Camp at Home card club kit. This beautiful paper pack is perfect for weddings, anniversaries, and engagements—but don’t let that limit you. By simply changing the sentiment, you can easily create cards for birthdays, thinking of you, get well, or “just because” occasions.

We all have those little paper scraps in our stash, and today’s simple design is the perfect way to use them up. Since the designer series paper pieces for this layout are smaller, I decided to include the measurements directly on the card sketch this time. Normally, I leave measurements off the sketches so you can customize them to fit your needs, but don’t worry—I always include full measurements here in the blog post as well.

For this card:

  • Card base: Old Olive – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″

  • Layer: Fresh Freesia – 4″ x 5 1/4″

  • Designer Series Paper pieces: See sketch for individual measurements

Once your pieces are cut, it’s simply a matter of adhering everything into place following the sketch layout. Finish it off with a sentiment of your choice to match the occasion.

For my card, I used the Banner Sayings bundle, which includes a coordinating banner punch and a variety of sentiments—making it easy to customize this design for just about anything you need.

Card #2 – Quick and Easy Card Sketch Ideas with Designer Series Paper

Card #2 features the Easter Joy Specialty Designer Series Paper paired with the coordinating Easter Basket Bundle to create an absolutely adorable Easter card. This combination makes it so easy to put together a festive design with minimal effort.

The layout for this card is exactly the same as Card #1, which shows just how versatile this sketch really is. By simply changing your paper and colors, you can achieve a completely different look and feel for any occasion.

For this version:

  • Card base: Thick Basic White – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″

  • Layer: Pretty in Pink – 4″ x 5 1/4″

  • Circle under the sentiment: Shy Shamrock

  • Designer Series Paper pieces: Same measurements as Card #1 (see sketch)

Once again, all the pieces come together quickly by following the sketch layout. The addition of the Easter Basket Bundle really brings this card to life and makes it perfect for celebrating the Easter season.

This is a great example of how one simple sketch can be used over and over again—just switch out your designer series paper, colors, and sentiment to match whatever you’re creating!
