Today I’m sharing a fun fold card design that makes the most of your patterned paper. For this project, I featured the Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper, but the best part is that this fold works beautifully with scenic prints or any favorite designs you already have on hand.
This card is actually a vertical easel card, which makes it extra special. When opened and propped up in the easel position, the full paper print is revealed, creating a beautiful display piece that’s perfect for a desk, counter, or mantel. It’s not just a card—it’s a little work of art that the recipient can enjoy long after they open it.

Another reason to love this vertical easel fun fold card is that it folds flat for easy mailing! All you need is a standard 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock for the base. With just two score lines and a few simple hidden mechanisms, this card comes together quickly—making it a perfect Creative One Sheet Wonder idea for both beginner and experienced cardmakers.
The first hidden element of this vertical easel fun fold card is the front sentiment piece. When the card is opened, the sentiment actually pivots—moving into place as the easel is set up. This clever mechanism is created using two cardstock circles folded in half and secured on each side of the score lines. It’s a simple trick that makes a big impact!
To create the pivoting circles and the sentiment banner, I used the Stylish Shapes Dies with Misty Moonlight and Basic Beige cardstock. The larger banner piece is Misty Moonlight, and the circles underneath are also Misty Moonlight, so the mechanisms blend in seamlessly and stay unobtrusive. The sentiment itself was stamped on the Basic Beige circle using Misty Moonlight ink, creating a clean, cohesive look that really pops against the scenic paper.
To finish the sentiment piece, I added Pressed Flower Motifs, giving it a polished and elegant look that complements the overall design of the card.

If you’re wondering where to write your inside message—or whether there’s enough room—don’t worry! I’ve added a piece of Basic Beige cardstock along with a leftover strip of Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper to the back of the card. This not only provides plenty of space for your message but also ensures that the card is beautiful on all sides, giving it a finished, professional look.
In the video, I also show an alternative: you can add a piece of Basic Beige cardstock to the inside of the card instead of the back. This gives you flexibility depending on the look you want and the amount of space you need for your message. Either way, your card will be functional and beautiful!
