Don’t worry — I will still continue sharing the original style of my card sketches here on the blog for FREE so you can download and print them anytime for inspiration.

For Card Sketch #52, I chose the gorgeous Nature Walk Designer Series Paper which I’m featuring in this months Suite of the Month classes.  One of my favorite things about card sketches is how easy they make designing cards. Simply switch out the papers, sentiments, or embellishments and you can create an entirely different look in just minutes.

These card sketch templates for beginners are also perfect if you ever feel stuck creatively or want to make quick cards using supplies you already have on hand.

Let’s take a closer look at today’s card sketch.

Why is this sketch so perfect? Today’s sketch is a wonderful way to use up those little strips of designer series paper while creating a fun focal accent on your card fronts.

For this layout, simply use 1/2″ strips of designer series paper across the front of your card, staggering the positions slightly to create movement and visual interest. This easy technique adds lots of texture and color without requiring complicated layers or fancy techniques.

You can easily customize this sketch by adding a die-cut focal element or keeping it simple with just a sentiment like I did on today’s card.

The sentiment was created using the coordinating Nature’s Symphony stamp set, while the label die comes from the new Phrases & Frames Bundle. Both pair beautifully with the Nature Walk Designer Series Paper and make creating elegant cards quick and easy.

If you haven’t had a chance to see the new May–August 2026 Catalog or the latest Online Exclusives from Stampin’ Up!, be sure to check the sidebar or click here to see ALL the special things happening this month.

To finish off the card, I added a few coordinating Faux Bronze Pentagons for just the right amount of sparkle and texture.

For the inside of the card, I added another strip of the designer series paper, matted onto a coordinating piece of cardstock, and layered it onto a Basic White card base. This simple addition ties the inside and outside of the card together beautifully while keeping the design cohesive.

By leaving plenty of open space on the Basic White layer, you still have lots of room to write your message or add a stamped sentiment if you choose. It’s a small detail, but it really elevates the finished card and makes it feel complete from the inside out.
