Five Clean and Simple Handmade Cards With New In Colors

clean and simple handmade cards with new in colors

Are you looking for clean and simple handmade cards using the new In Colors? If you are like me one of the things I look forward to seeing when the new catalog releases are the five new In Colors.  This year’s colors are Timid Tiger, Strawberry Slush, Secret Sea, Darling Duckling, and Cloud Cover.

I generally have a couple of In Color Clubs running for 5-months featuring all five of the new In Colors.  This time I am not holding a club for a couple of reasons.

  • You may have heard that the new Cloud Cover is not available in the ink pad, as Stampin’ Up! was having quality control issues with the ink and over time the color changed to a grayish color and not the blue.
  • The Strawberry Slush is a repeat color that we have had in the past.

For those two reasons I felt I couldn’t hold my In Color Club this time around.  But, I still want to showcase these beautiful colors and show you just what you can do with them.  I also have a couple of work arounds for the lack of the Cloud Cover ink pad.

Let’s Dive in and Take a Closer Look at Each of These New In Colors:

clean and simple handmade cards with the New Timid Tiger In Color

First up is the new Timid Tiger In Color. This is a softer orange than the Pumpkin Pie but a bit darker than the Peach Pie.

I brought in a few new products to create these clean and simple handmade cards using the five new In Colors. The basic white background on the cards is embossed using the new mini corrugated embossing folder, which is on currently sold out, but expected to be back into the warehouse this week. If you put it in your shopping cart it will say that it is unavailable but will give you the option to receive an email when it comes back in stock.

Strawberry Slush In Color clean and simple handmade cards

This is the returning Strawberry Slush In Color, which we’ve had in the past.  If you are a pink lover as I am, then you probably still have this color in your crafting stash.  This was one of the reasons I did not feel I could hold the In Color Club this time around.

The sentiment and flower I used on these cards are from the Beautiful Gallery Suite of products.  This suite has two different stamp sets in it.  The sentiment is from the Beautiful Motifs stamp set and the flower is from the Gallery Blooms stamp set.  This suite is currently sold out, because of the Damask Embossing Folder, but you can still purchase the rest of the suite of products.

Secret Sea In Color clean and simple handmade cards

This is the new Secret Sea In Color, it is a very dark blue.  I’ve always been a big fan of blue and white cards, so this just might be my favorite one of the five.  I think it is so classy, maybe it is just me.

Each of the cards also has the new In Color Flat Pearls, which you already know I love to add a bit of bling to my cards and these are perfect.

darling duckling new in color for clean and simple handmade card

This is the new Darling Duckling In Color which isn’t as bright of a yellow as Daffodil Delight.  So, if you do not like the brightness of that color you might just like this color a bit more.

I’ve also added a bit of the White Twine on each of the cards with just a simple double bow.

Oh, you might be wondering where the rectangle frame came from as well.  This is also part of the Beautiful Gallery Suite, this frame is part of the Gallery Blooms bundle.

Cloud cover In Color

Finally the Cloud Cover In Color and my work around for not being able to purchase the ink pad.   Believe it or not I used the Lost Lagoon ink pad and stamped it off onto a piece of scrap paper before stamping it again onto my cardstock.  When you stamp it off, it removes most of the Lost Lagoon ink and then when you stamp it again without re-inking it will give you the Cloud Cover look.

There are a couple of more options you can use for getting the cloud cover ink.  I have used the cloud cover marker to ink my stamp and stamp it, but I had much better results with the Lost Lagoon stamp off method.

There is also a Cloud Cover ink spot in the catalog that works too.  This is sold in a collection on page 33 in the annual catalog.  The collection consist of Real Red, Petal Pink, Garden Green, Cloud Cover, and Early Espresso.

Why does Cloud Cover work in the spot and not the large ink pad?  The spots are more of a felt pad which doesn’t have a reaction to the die; and the large ink pads are a foam pad and for some reason it has a different reaction with the dies.
